I don't have any additional input on the vaccination issue, but I'm baffled that your family expects you to host Thanksgiving 4 weeks after your due date. I'm assuming this means you'll not only have people staying at your house (for up to 2 weeks!), but they'll expect you to do much of the cooking as well. Wow . . .
Personally, I'm not planning on having any overnight guests the first few weeks, mostly because of space, but also because I know I'm not going to be in the position to entertain. My sister has mentioned visiting, which would be fine, because she'll sleep on the couch and probably even offer to help with meals, if not just raiding my fridge to feed herself. She won't need me to be a good hostess during that time.
I can't imagine having to host a whole bunch of people for Thanskgiving 4 weeks after my due date, even if they ARE all up to date on their vaccinations! They can't stay at a hot this year, or have the meal at a restaurant just this year?
Also I had a really bad reaction to the flu shot last year, it was my first time getting it. I had the flu for 4 days and almost passed out at work after having it. I know I need to get it for the baby's sake, but I'm really uneasy about it since I was so sick the first time. Again asking my doctor about it.
I’m
not getting the flu shot. I have heard terrible things about flu shots and
recently there has been many studies stating flu shots are ineffective. I’m not anti-vax but believe I will get the
Tdap at the hospital once baby is out of me.
Then he can get those antibodies through my breastmilk. Just don’t trust the CDC on everything they
tell you.
@Rikki_5 I'm kind of in agreement with you. Despite getting the shot last year, I still had the flu 3 times. Granted I worked in a call center and went from desk to desk (and people are nasty let me tell you) so my body didn't stand a chance anyway. Still they came out and admitted last year that this flue shot wasn't as effective.
That and I'm really afraid that I'll have a bad reaction again. I guess I'll see what the doctor says.
