Heartbeat apps

anyone know if those really work and have one to recommend? I can't really feel my uterus (13 weeks tomorrow) but it's mainly (I think) because I'm afraid to push in on my csection scar. Just thought it'd be cool to try one of those, if they even work :D

Try looking into an inexpensive fetal Doppler, I'm expecting mine in the mail today and so anxious to try it! Www.fetaldoppler.net is where I ordered mine.
  • I have friends who've tried the apps and they've all been disappointed. I got a Doppler from Amazon and Ive been able to find the heartbeat since the start of 11 weeks

  • My midwife recommended that I don't purchase one....I know that a lot of women on here have them. It struck me as odd that she said there wasn't a need.
  • The sonoline dopper is a favorite. I got one with DS and loved it. I've loaned it to 2 friends and my sister - they all loved it, too. You can get it on fetaldoppler.net

  • @KaraEpp16 I thought about getting one too, but the FDA recommends that you don't so I decided not to, FWIW.

  • @claireloSC even in the bump baby book it recommends against getting one....What is FWIW?

Ever since I heard the heartbeat at the doctor's office my pregnancy has taken a VERY nice 180 into positivity and I'm hopeful/excited to be on the journey, even without my own doppler. hehe

@KaraEpp16 "For what it's worth". :) I feel the same. I was so worried but now that I heard the heartbeat I don't worry so much. Realistically there is just as much change of losing the baby now as there is at 12 weeks or 20 or whatever, which is to say very very very low. So as much as I'd like to listen to the heartbeat for fun, I decided I shouldn't risk possible harm just in case. I think it can be hard to not worry until you can feel the baby move, but really chances are if you've made it this far you are going to have a baby. So I just try to remember that and not worry. :)

  • Thanks guys. You'd think I'd know all this, being my second pregnancy and all. But I'm a very big worrywart lol

  • I guess for those of us with infertility brain, latching on to the "everything is more than likely OK" is hard to do. I don't use the doppler every day, or for longer than 15-20 seconds once I've found the heart beat, and it's a great reassurance (for me) that everything is still good in there. I have to admit that I'm a lot more confident now after my 12wk scan and watching  the baby move around so much that it was hard to get a clear picture :)
