Hip Displasia.... Forward Facing Carriers?

I am almost 26 weeks & starting to register for things but one thing I am having the TOUGHEST desicion on is whether I will register for the Ergo original (which has 3 carrying options) or the Ergo 360 (which has 4 carrying options. Including forward facing) After finding an article about how forward facing carriers can be bad for little ones and it's recommended not to wear them forward facing for an extended amount of time I was wondering if the 360 would be worth it? Both of my other 2 children loved to be facing out, however, I was oblivious to the facts of hip displasia, curved spines, & the affects of overstimulation from forward facing... Am I being paranoid? Lol and which would you mommys recommend? Also, if you've used the "hip" position with the original ergo, did your baby like it? Thank you!!!

  • I would still go for the 360. It's worth it to have the option to wear your LO facing out once in awhile. I can imagine it would become a problem if that is the only way you held your child for the majority of their day.

  • I have the Ergo original with the 3 positions. I carried on my front while my daughter was very little with the infant insert. I would only occasionally carry her after that, but when I did, it was on my hip. She would be on my hip anyway if I carried her without the carrier, so it was pretty natural and she didn't mind it at all. The Ergo is so comfortable and I never felt like it hurt my back.
