Baby shower set up

ive been asked for input but don't have a clue!
My shower is being held at a small community hall. We aren't sure how to set up the space so it's convenient for games and guests watching present opening. Round tables doesn't seem right and we don't want everyone standing to watch presents and games either.
Any ideas?

Usually a circle of chairs around the mama. Then everyone can see everything.

  • Have you considered long rectangular tables? I once went to a wedding with about 75 guests and they only had three long rectangular tables. The grooms sat at the end of the middle table so everyone had a view of them. It was intimate and it really worked. Easier to decorate as well. Also, they had one table for friends, and the other two for each of their families. I know it's not a wedding but it's an idea in terms of setup :)
  • Tables of any kind with chairs are great to encourage people to sit down and chat with each other. Having seating areas throughout the space will encourage people to get to know one another without being too intimidating (as opposed to one large space with chairs spread all around). Tables are also great for hors d'oeuvres or other food options. Round or rectangle shouldn't be too much of an issue. When you do gift opening, have a space where you can sit and people can turn, but I guess I wouldn't expect everyone to gather around terribly close to you. I've been to many showers where the set up is slightly different, but over all, keeping your guests comfortable in the space without demanding too much of them (cramming into a circle for gifts) seems to be appropriate.

  • I am doing a bridal shower next month and was having the same dilemma. I was contemplating stealing the sofas out of the lobby but I think a circle of chairs is a better idea. Tables will be too awkward since we are just serving light snacks. Also makes it easier since there's just the gift table and the food table to worry about.

  • What about long rectangular tables set up in a "U" shape. You can sit in the opening and everyone can still watch from their seats.
