Help!

Since in the late 8th week I've been able to find my baby's heart beat with my soline B Doppler. I'm 10 weeks now. 10 weeks and 4 days. I found it Friday morning but wasn't able to find it Friday night, or all of Saturday. Concerned a little. I hear swooshing sounds. But no baby. I'm trying not to overly freak out since I still have symptoms. I called my OB office and they are getting me in tomorrow to see if they can find the heart beat and if not get an ultra sound. I'm scared. I've never had this happen before. This is my 3rd baby. Just wondering if anyone else had this and everything be ok.

Re: Help!

  • The swooshing noise or wind noise is your placenta! I find the heartbeat close to where I hear that noise. Your baby grows so much every week, so it may not be in the exact same spot you found it the week before. Try with a full bladder. Experiment with a full/empty stomach, full/empty bladder, etc. I can never find it in the morning, so I always look at night. Just keep trying (:

  • I had my boyfriend hide it. I'm driving myself insane. I've never not been able to find it. I've searched for hours. Laying flat, on my side, high, low, side to side. Literally no where. :(

Don't some doctors hate home dopplers precisely because moms often can't find the heartbeat and come into the office in a panic? Hopefully I'm right about that and you're just another panicking mom. Good luck and try to relax until you can get in. It's the best thing you can do for yourself and the baby.

Also at my last appt, which was 10 or 11 weeks, my dr had trouble finding the baby's heart beat with the Doppler. It was nice and strong, just behind my pulse in my pelvis so it was being drowned out. Even when she found it I could hardly hear it because of mine over it.
  • I guess since I'm sti having symptoms and I heard a strong heart beat Friday morning I shouldn't worry too much.
