Wound up in the ER again last night for the second time due to bleeding. This was the third instance, but I did not go the second time it happened because we had just had a death in my husband's family and were heading to be with them (they live close to a good hospital anyway, so we figured if anything changed we could just jet over there). Anyway, during my first visit at 14 weeks, they said it looked like there was a blighted ovum (an undeveloped embryo) that was causing the bleeding, and that everything else looked fine. Well last night they said there was no sign of it (this was a different doctor and ultrasound tech, who seemed to take a lot more pictures and spend more time studying), and that the OBGYN group wanted me to follow up with them this week. I have, until now, been seeing a midwife because that was who was available at our clinic. With no reason for the bleeding, they want to examine me and so forth.
Additionally, they of course hooked me up to all the bells and whistles while laying in the ER (including an IV--ugh!). I should point out that my blood pressure is usually is around 118/76 or thereabouts, but while I was laying there and waiting, it dropped to 96/54. Lowest I've ever seen, and it got me to thinking. I sometimes wake up with vertigo, diagnosed with it in 2004, and I'm wondering if there is a correlation--if my blood pressure sporadically drops like that and causes the dizziness. Can't be sure, and will mention it to the OB I see this week.
Another thing I meant to mention last night (and will try to remember during my OB visit, is the numbness in my left thigh. Started maybe a week ago, small area about the size of my palm. I can feel pressure, but not a light touch. It is now a larger area, and I am getting sharp pains from my hip to my knee if I put full pressure on it. Doing some research, I find information about Meralgia Paresthetica, which is pretty much to a T what I am experiencing, but everyone seems to develop it much later in their pregnancy. My mom, a nurse, also says it is usually later. So that is also on my list of questions for the OB.
Has anyone else experienced any of these issues?
