Parenting after 35

Ugh. Nothing fits. :(.

This is the part I always dread about having a baby. The weight I'm left struggling to get rid of. I lost 20lbs but I have 40lbs to go do none of my pre pregnancy stuff is anywhere close to fitting. :(. I'm almost 4 weeks from delivery. I told myself that the kids and I would walk every day but it's been raining on and off for two weeks! We got a walk in last week but the DS pooped out after one lap.

I have a family party to go to in a couple of hours. I have nothing to wear :(. I ordered from old navy. Should have been here yesterday. It's not. Boo!!

I tried on some of the clothes I wore after DD was born. None of them fit. How is that possible? I'm almost 5lbs less than I was then but they don't fit. I swear everything moves around with each kid. Maybe if I show up in yoga pants no one will notice. Lol.

Re: Ugh. Nothing fits. :(.

  • Well, what did you go with?

I have come to understand that the number on the scale is not very meaningful. I'm a couple of pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight, but nothing fits! I seem to be bigger everywhere. I don't even know what my bra size is right now. When I really can't be bothered, I wear a poorly fitting top and wear a carrier over that.
  • I am with you!  I am almost three weeks PP.  I gained 35 pounds during the pregnancy, and I know a lot has come off (we don't have a scale, so I'm not sure exactly how much), but not enough that I can fit into most of my old clothes yet.  So I am pretty much living in yoga pants and tank tops.  When I want to put on "real" clothes, it is quite a struggle to figure out what to do.  I can't wait until I get the go-ahead to start working out again - I hope to fit into all of my pre-preggo clothes by the end of the summer and regain all the muscle tone that I've lost by Christmas (high hopes, I know...)

  • I totally relate, except I'm 7 weeks postpartum and don't fit my clothes! I still wear a couple maternity bottoms begrudgingly, and that leaves me with like two flowy dresses and a pair of yoga pants. Even my "transition" clothes from after DD don't fit yet! I'm down 25 lbs since the birth of DS with 15 lbs to go. I need to be patient, I'll be back in my pre-pregnancy clothes in a couple months. But it does suck every morning knowing I can't fit into 95% of my clothes and rotating between the same three outfits. This is kind of like that part of pregnancy when you just feel pudgy.

  • I am 10lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight for this one, baby #2. However, that's still 5lbs less than my pre-pregnancy weight for baby #1 (and 20lbs less than I was postpartum baby #1). NOTHING fits. And I measured my bra size for new bras. H cup. H!!!!! I have to order my nursing bras online from europe.

  • Oh thank God it isn't just me!! I bought a plain black maxi skirt at Target the other day. I ended up wearing that. I bought a sweater type t-shirt that I wore with it. It looked ok. It rained ALL day and I'm not even sure it got to 60 degrees today. It was freezing but I had no regular pants to wear. None of my jeans fit. Not even my fat girl jeans!!

Ugh. Mostly I've been living in the ONE pair of black maternity yoga capri pants I have. I've been wearing a lot of bigger T's with it.

I just feel so gross! I'm not sure what my bra size is either. The one nursing bra I have is a 38C. I wear it when I need a real bra but it doesn't fit right. I'm like falling out of it.

It's hard to walk far in my neighborhood too because our street is a dead end. There's one street that connects to the street before ours but the cross road is a 55mph rd so it feels dangerous taking my little ones on the shoulder of that road. Most of the time it's up hill so DS who is 6.. Poops out quick because he has a hard time riding his bike up hill. My mom keeps visiting and bringing candy and cookies and junk and I keep eating it!! I keep telling her to stop bringing it because my sweet tooth is stronger than my will!!

I'm more comfortable than I was pregnant but I just feel pretty gross. I never have time to do my hair either. I end up washing it and letting it air dry until it's dry enough to put up.

  • @niknak1208 - do yourself a favor. Go buy some cute non-maternity jeans that fit. Don't look at the tag. Just rip it out when you get home. Those were my favorite jeans after DS was born, and they're my favorite jeans again after DD

  • A year and a half postpartum I still can't wear a lot of my clothes because they just don't look good on me anymore. I am only five feet tall so an extra five pounds really makes a difference. Any pants that used to fit juuust right are now out of the question. I know if I discipline myself I can lose some weight but I honestly don't know if my body will ever again have the right shape for my entire wardrobe. I'm trying not to get sad about it, I vow to focus on how awesome it is to finally be a mother. But I understand the frustration. I never had to "work out" before and right now I don't know how to find the time/energy/motivation.

  • I'm 10 wks pp and still not in my regular clothes
    DS born 10/25/11 **  DD born 6/24/13 **  DS born 4/20/15
  • (WTF - where is most of my previous post?)
    DS born 10/25/11 **  DD born 6/24/13 **  DS born 4/20/15
  • Thank you ladies for sharing! I've lost the weight but nothing fits. This is so much different than the first time. I know I'm only 3 weeks PP but still frustrated that none of my pants, shorts or shirts fit. I also love the post about jeans - I'm going to do that as soon as I find pants to wear to the store

  • @cosmicgirl lol exactly!! I've been wearing yoga pants me maxi skirts.

I don't easily lose weight either. I have to really work out and watch my diet. Once I get going, I love it. I genuinely enjoy being fit. I do a ton of strength training. I love it. But it takes me a minute to get there. Usually I need my babies to all be sleeping thru the night because the only time I have is 5am. I usually work out 5-6am before anyone is up.

Ugh. I did take the kids for a short walk today. Maybe 30 minutes.
