pump (X posted)

edited June 2015 in October 2015 Moms
I get a choice of pumps through my insurance. Which pump do I choose? I've read reviews but they all seem to have their pros and cons. I'm going to be using the pump a lot so it needs to work good. Medela pnsa starter set (I think I've ruled this one out but can upgrade to medela on the go tote for $95), Ameda purely yours ultra, First years breast flow memory pump, Hygeia Q, Spectra s2, Lansinoh Sig pro Any recommendations will be appreciated!

  • FTM mom here, so I have no advice on which one. But, have you checked with your insurance yet? Most will provide you with a pump for free. I get a Medela and I don't remember the model right now, but I researched it at the time and I was pleased.

  • Oh yes. I forgot to mention that these are free through my insurance. Oops.

  • I have the Medela PIS that I got through insurance with DD. It has the travel bag, but I don't think that one is commonly offered through insurance any more (I could be wrong). I pumped at work and when I traveled, and I was very pleased with it. We switched insurance, so I'll get another one with this LO so I can keep one at work and one at home.

  • I had a medela with DS. I used it three times a day at work for a year. It held up perfectly!

  • I had an Ameda with DS and don't recommend it since you can get a Medela covered. The Medela PISA is the most popular, though Hygeia is endorsed by La Leche League.

  • Medela hands down! You can get the starter set and buy a cute tote bag from tjmaxx and a cooler/ice pack elsewhere too. Or pay to get their black bag. Don't do ameda whatever you do! I had that one for my first and hated it! The Medela is superior in every way (used Medela for my second)
  • Definitely the Medela. I used my PISA 3-4 x a day for over a year and it works great. I will be reusing it with this babe. I don't know anything about the Hygeia, but I haven't heard great things about the Ameda or Lasinoh.
