Hi Ladies. My son is 4 weeks old today and I am pretty sure I just got my period. I am exclusively breastfeeding and my bleeding from having the baby was pretty much gone and then a few days ago started getting heavier again and today it is like I have my period. Is this normal to get your period this early or do you think I should be concerned and call my doctor?
I was told that id get my period then it would end & then it would come back because it scabs and the scab falls off or something? But I would call your doctor to be sure!
My nurse told me the post partum bleeding tends to cycle throughout the entire 6 weeks. Mine had pretty much stopped and then I got a periodlike flow again with small clots. It's starting to let up again. She said as long as I'm not soaking a pad an hour and no clots are golf ball size or larger that it's all just part of normal post partum stuff.
My bleeding had slowed to spotting status then all the sudden got really heavy again. It turned out I had an infection. Might be worth getting checked out.
Call your Dr and ask, but my Dr also mentioned that my bleeding may taper off and then suddenly come back stronger like a real period for a couple of days. Unless I soaked a pad in an hour or passed more than 1 huge (egg sized or larger) clot then the increase in bleeding (the 'period') was likely my uterus shedding the last cells of carrying baby and shouldn't last long.
I feel like I have my period today. Small clots, 12 days pp. Serious cramping going on. Trying to wean off the Motrin, so haven't taken any today. Maybe I should. I'm just being stubborn. I definitely think it's way too soon for my period though as I am bf'ing. So I'll chalk it up to the bleeding may go away and come back and last for 6 weeks.
