Acne remedies?

Seriously, worst skin in my life. Way worse than it ever was in high school, no matter what I've tried so far! Suggestions?

Re: Acne remedies?

  • Witch hazel! I use it morning and night, and use a hydrating but not oily moisturizer. My skin could fry an egg in the summer from all the oil but witch hazel works wonders! My face got red and splotchy from anything with salicylic acid and with astringent.

  • Ditto on the witch hazel. Also, tea tree based cleansers/toners seem to do it for me.

That mask sounds AMAZING. I'm going to have to try it.

I'm going to have to try these natural ways once I run out of what I have.

I started using a mint and lemon clay mask I found at Ulta every three or four days. I also use a sugar scrub before applying the mask to get the pores cleaned out. Seems to work well so far! Cleared up a few of my horribly painful ones that were not going away.

Where's the glow, man?! Lies. All lies.

I swear I have tried everything under the sun to help with acne. This is going to sound weird but I've stopped washing my face and it's helped better than anything I've ever tried. I will still rinse with water and a washcloth but that's it. Occasionally if I feel like I need to I will use a Sensitive Skin face wash ( make it yourself or buy natural with nothing in it for acne) maybe once a week if that. Frequently changing your pillowcase also helps.

  • Tea tree was specifically a no no by my doctor ..I tried using it w a q-tip diluted as a spot treatment and I instantly stared feeling mild contractions, I got scared and called my doctor she said under so circumstance to use it , I then asked about using products w it? She said although the amounts aren't concentrated she would advise I stay away from those too!!! @MariahOBrien ...this mask has made my face so much better!!! Just if you have sensitive skin don't leave it on for too long I leave it till it hardens!

  • I have had the same issue and I alternate between using tea tree oil and tamanu oil. From what I've read on tea tree oil is that it can decrease the force of spontaneous contractions during labor. So, If it's diluted correctly, (which you can dilute with coconut oil) you shouldn't have any issues. Tamanu oil is also could for stretch marks and scarring along with it being know to treat acne so it has more than one use during pregnancy. You can read about Madagascar tamanu oil on shea terra, that's the site I ordered it from. Of course, it's probably always good to talk to your doctor first to figure out what's safe and what's not. The bump actually had a blog about using tea tree has an acne treatment during pregnancy, but I can't find it now.
  • I use the acne lotion from clinique, as long as I put it on in the morning and before bed, it is a HUGE help. My skin has been ridiculous, face and body but it's finally under control as long as I don't skip days. I have very sensitive skin as well but I tolerate this treatment and as far as I can find it is OK to use during pregnancy.

  • I would also recommend a gentle, mild cleanser. My dermatologist suggets CeraVe brand. I love it!
  • Check out the brand Mumsie Naturals, they have an acne face wash. It's made specifically for pregnant women and doesn't have benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. I found it in my local Walmart.
