And I have another (for real this time) FFFQ. We've discussed the first poop PP before, but what if its, you know, soft to the point of being a little messy (getting on you back there during its exit)? I don't usually need to soften, but have taken the stool softeners anyway, just in case. Do you go ahead and wipe like usual away from your Virginia and stitches? Or only use the peri bottle to squirt away any... um... remnants?
Or, more inelegantly put - how do you avoid leaving skidmarks? )
I was never given a peri bottle so I just wipe normally. Or I use my detachable shower head to hose down... Which is probably like using the peri bottle. I am also using flushable wet wipes.
Anyone feel like they will weigh more now than while pregnant?? I had a super healthy pregnancy and exercised a lot... Now I haven't had time/inclination to get much in and I've also been inhaling oatmeal and lactation cookies, eating wheat again per advice of IBCLC. Isn't helping with the baby blues and it's not working anyways. I feel like we need an accountability thread again on exercises, a lot of us are past the initial PP time
@janit368 I feel like I weigh more but it doesn't make sense because I eat less...... I forget to eat between trying to take care of my bottom and nursing. Ugh. Full time job. I chose Zoloft for preventing PPD.
I'm dying to go exercise/walk but my ass hurts so bad! Tmi.
. I feel like we need an accountability thread again on exercises, a lot of us are past the initial PP time
Sorry, not flaming (its flame free) but I would disagree on needing a thread where we hold each other 'accountable' for our weight. I just feel that worrying about what every one else is thinking about our weight is not something that would be helpful to many of us right now. I can vouch for myself that something like that may actually lead me more towards baby blues or PPD than be helpful. I would feel that I am being judged. Also, we have moms that haven't even delivered yet. I wouldn't want them reading a thread insinuating that they are too heavy when they are only 2 days outside of having a baby.
Just my 2 cents. If there were to be such a thread, it would probably be helpful and supportive to the rest of the board (those of us who do NOT want to be worrying about weight) to make it something more like an activity log and not concentrating on 'I used to weigh this and now I weigh this' comments? That way even moms who are not trying to actively lose weight can drop in and say mention they went on a mile walk, or went bowling or something.
All of the previous 'weight' threads were fairly active threads, but at the same time despised by many (obviously, I was one of those). Just trying to find a happy medium.
Friendly advice from your local septic company owners....flushable wipes are not flushable!! Meaning, if you have a septic system, even if those wipes say you can flush them and they are septic safe, they can and usually do cause big problems! We see it all the time. Just trying to save y'all $...put them in the trash instead

Course, its an internet forum, so...
There used to be a somewhat regular thread about exercising, which I think is what @janit368 meant. Something where you state what your goals are (eg, walk 30 minutes three days/week) and then you check back in to say whether you hit that goal or not. The reasoning is most people are more extrinsically motivated, so even just being "obligated" to check in on an Internet forum can get you moving better than if you just make the pledge to yourself (intrinsic motivation). In the past, it had nothing to do with weight, and everything to do with health/activity.
If it's done that way, pregnant women can also use the thread, if they want to.
Newborn poop. I can't figure out if my LO has regular breastfed poop or if it's diarrhea. Her stomachs makes these noises and then it's really watery. She doesn't seem bugged and she has no other symptoms of discomfort or illness.
I feel like this is a massively stupid question, but, what have you ladies experienced regarding cramping in late pregnancy? I've been just moderately crampy the last probably... 30 hours or so, though I did have a cervical check yesterday morning. It's probably 90% due to that but I just thought I'd ask as crampy isn't really the norm for me at this stage or after previous cervical checks.

I'm going to call the Ped in the morning...
I had the same concern about LO's loose stool. My doc said as long as she's gaining weight (she is) then it's normal (which still sounds weird to me!) They said the concern is stool that is too hard...

DH is crazy about our septic system, I let a Tucks pad accidentally go down a few days post-partum and got a lecture
But @mellymar I second using wet wipes for the short time this is an issue - less abrasive than regular TP. Or use a peri bottle and gently pat dry.

@lwyz I had period like cramps for weeks before I had DS. They were significant for the last two days before I delivered. I think it's pretty normal.
LO snorts and grunts a lot. I don't have any type of booger control device, and no clue when I should be using one. Our first pediatrician appointment isn't for two weeks, and I don't feel this warrants a call (language barrier is exhausting). LO is not unhappy.
Tips?
Edited: LO, not LI. Oh man, I have to stop judging people on their grammar because mine has become ATROCIOUS!
My doctor went ahead and scheduled an induction for 41 weeks since I'm still not dilated, not effaced, and posterior. I'm 39+3 today. Is it that likely I won't change at all? Anyone else nothing and then went into labor naturally?
Newborns make crazy noises. If baby isn't fussy or does not have a visibly stuffy/runny nose, you probably don't need to do anything. If you want to get either a bulb syringe or a nose frida (awesome) then go for it. You won't hurt anything by using them. Baby probably won't like it so be prepared for fussing when you use them.

I've seen lots of stories on here about women who've been in the same boat and went naturally.

It drove us crazy but we were told the stuffy sounding nose is completely normal for the first 4 weeks. It sounds absolutely horrible and scary. We did try the NoseFrida and it didn't do much. We are hitting 4 weeks tomorrow and I just realized it did in fact go away on its own maybe late in week 2 or early week 3? It did seem to bug us more than it did LO..
We were told we could use saline drops and a nose bulb but we never ended up doing it.
Um so we are going to take photos at each "month" mark (like most people) and I assumed tomorrow is her one month since it's 4 weeks. But then I thought, is it based on the date instead? LO was born on 5/30.... so is she one month old tomorrow, or on 6/30? Is this just my mommy brain making me dumb?

Most months are actually longer than 4 weeks (4 weeks = 28 days) so I'd go with the date and do your photos on the 30th of each month. (I remember having the same debate with myself when trying to decide how long my college boyfriend and I had been dating!)

@klkonwi (although you probably already know this so just a reminder!) and others who just gave birth recently, when I got home from the hospital I weighed the exact same thing as I did when pregnant. I was so pissed. I knew I had a baby and a placenta which had to weigh something? Apparently it was just all the fluid that they gave me at the hospital because within a week or two I had lost significant weight. Still have a way to go but personally trying not to worry about it for a while. I couldn't walk either.

1 month on June 30. I cannot believe our babies are almost a month old. Crazy!

This! I am always more swollen after giving birth than before.
@hoodoll82 DH and I had this conversation last night! I decided it would be easier to remember the day of the month vs 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 etc. Glad we're not the only ones who got confused about that!

@mellymar I was just thinking of an exercise thread. That's what I get for typing in the middle of the night. I don't really care what I weigh as long as I am healthy but I feel anything but healthy. My knee joints feel swollen from all the gluten and sitting around. I realized I could do squats while folding diapers or something. People do sit ups while holding the baby.. It just keeps not happening. Probably the lack of sleep
One month today! 5/26 Baby. Still have to get the sticker out and do our photo.
My question: How long do jaundice babies keep their darker coloring? I am really pale and I keep getting awkward questions from strangers about my babies ethnicity. I feel like I am letting people down when I don't have an interesting story about my DH. Strange that people ask. LO's skin IS a beautiful brown/olive tone.
@virginiaunicorn11 Thanks for considering grammar forgiveness. Typing in the dark with one thumb whilst supporting a nursing LO is challenging. And my phone never lets me edit.

Well I applaud you for considering it at all. I'm still technically 2 days PP, so the idea of doing anything other than babying my tush and trying to help my poor nips seems quite daunting. You go get em!
Has anyone had their lovely period come back yet? I am 6w pp and it's so terrible and heavy! I got the ok to use tampons because it's so heavy but when I go to take the tampon out it hurts so bad anf feels like it is stuck Anyone else?! Please tell me that this won't last forever pads are gross! sorry this could have maybe went in the symptoms thread, oops!
I'm having an induction next week if this baby doesn't come naturally this weekend. I've heard of not being able to eat before a morning induction, but I will be induced starting at 8 pm with cervidile (spelling?) and pitocin the following morning? Do I need to fast before my night induction? Has anyone else had experience with a night induction? I've been doing some research and all the stories are pretty vague about what happens. I'm getting really nervous (FTM if you couldn't tell :-) )

Same for me i can have a normal dinner but no food/drink after midnight. Check with your doctor prior to going in for specific instructions. Nothing would suck more than having to postpone your baby's birth! Good luck!

Thanks! I called the office today and got no answer and no call back. I plan on calling again on Monday morning, but wanted to know what others were told in case I never get an answer from my Dr.

Mine wasn't too too soft but just enough not be completely uncomfortable. Use the peri bottle to clean the area, then I dabbed flushable wipes to clean up remnants, then used a tucks wipe for sensitivity.

Me! I wasn't ready at all, scheduled an induction, and went into labor 3 days before. I also progressed pretty quickly.
How old are babies when they start cryIng real tears?
Was just wondering that today, as LO's eye's were a little watery. Read that it can happen starting at 3 weeks, but would be interesting to hear from STM's.

Is it ok to let my LO sleep in a bouncer or swing at night? I find that she likes sleeping in there better than her bassinet and would sleep longer periods of time.

I had a night induction. They told me to eat a "light" meal 3 or 4 hours beforehand. I wish I had eaten larger and more closely to going in, to be honest. I got really hungry. Inductions can take a loooong time, and you're basically restricted to liquids and jello. My stomach felt so sloshy and it made me nauseous.
The cervadil was fine, it only caused me period like cramping contractions, and I didn't begin active labor until 8 hours into pitocin (i was at the full dose because I still hadn't progressed past 1 cm ((i came in with zero progression)) ) when my water broke on its own. THAT was when it got really real and active labor began. I immediately got Nubain and an epidural. 9.5 hours later DD was here.
I personally had a wonderful experience. So much so, I would actually gladly relive it (if I didn't have to go through the pp recovery and first couple newborn weeks again). Goodluck mommas!

Mine has slept in her bouncer&swing combo since the day she came home. Almost 5 weeks and still doing fine. Reflux baby, so she needs the incline.
