Travel Systems

I'm looking into buying a travel system for our little girl and I am having trouble deciding. I like graco and chicco, we have a jeep jogger stroller that was gifted to us for when she gets alittle bit older but I want a stroller that the carseat can lock into in the beginning. Any suggestions?

Re: Travel Systems

  • Baby jogger city mini system. Used to have to buy all separately and now you can buy the system at BBB. $399. Everyone I know that has one loves it. I tried a couple others at BBB I believe the new Graco system and the stroller was so heavy I would not be able to manage on my own. Car seat alittle heavier too. Got city mini and set all up. Can't wait to use, so light and glidey!

I have a Chicco car seat and the baby jogger city mini stroller. Love them both and wouldn't trade for anything else as of right now.

  • We'll be getting the Safety 1st Step and Go Travel System from BRU. It stands when folded, folds and locks with one hand, large basket, washable seat pad, five point harness, extendable sun visor, and so much more! It also unlocks and opens when you step on the pedal. It's $299.99, I'll be getting it in the Capri color.

I had my heart set on a Chicco travel system but upon playing with it in the store we found it to be a huge pain in the ass compared to a Graco Travel system.

The Graco one we registered for is pretty light weight and you can easily pop it up and collapse it with one hand.

I guess my advice would be to go to a store that carries a lot of options (like Babies'r'us) and spend some time playing with the different travel systems. It'll help you figure out what work best for you.
  • I have a Graco KeyFit and a Baby Jogger City Mini.

I originally bought a Graco travel system for DD. it lasted 3 months. I sold it all, and bought a City Mini. It folds up easier, lighter and smaller.

They also make car seat strollers for about $30-60. And all they do is attach to infant car seats. You could do that till your LO is big enough for the jeep jogger stroller you already have.

  • Long time Lurker dropping by, hello! (:
My DH and I put a Graco Fast Travel Click Connect Travel System on layaway at Burlington. It comes with the Graco Snugride 30 LX car seat. They had a display in store for us to try. It was really lightweight and easy to fold the stroller. It was really great. And only 179.99! Yay!
  • What I found helped us in deciding was to go to a couple of stores and actually lush the demos around the store to see what we liked or didn't like. (Only got a couple of funny looks) ;) Ended up liking the Graco fast-fold jogging click connect system.

I assume if you already have a jogger you want something simple with this one? I personally love the one we picked because the car seat clicks into the stroller for infants, and then we already have the jogger once she outgrows the infant seat.
  • I searched for this topic so I guess you could call me a lurker. Anyone have rec's on a stroller that is taller? Could be an umbrella stroller. I'm about 5'8 so I'm fine but DH is 6'3 and it'd be good to have a nicer umbrella or easy use stroller. It doesn't have to be something that a carseat would fit in. If this isn't the place to ask does anyone have any rec's about which board would be the most helpful??

  • @Anner804, our BOB is a good height for most people. Many umbrella strollers are shorter. I'd suggest you two go check some out in person just to see what his comfort will be!

  • OP, you can buy adapters for carseats for many joggers. If you haven't already looked into that, you might consider it.

DH and I have a BOB with a Chicco Keyfit 30 adapter. It worked perfectly for DD and we never needed or used a travel system.

  • I've registered for the Britax B Agile system. I'm a little nervous about that choice now that I don't see it mentioned here. I have heard GREAT things about the city mini stroller.

  • @MirandaC1984 I just purchased the Britax B Agile system today as well.  I like that it's lightweight and the carseat is top rated in safety.  I was between that and the Chicco lightweight system (don't remember the name now) but we liked the Britax system a lot better.

I have heard great things about the B-Agile system and see a ton of them in my neighborhood. I would totally get one except that I want a stroller that has a bassinet option.
  • For DS we got the Britax B-Agile travel system with the B-Safe carseat.  Good things:
I really like how easy the stroller is to handle and maneuver.  Having the one dual wheel base up front makes it very easy to push one-handed if necessary.  And it is truly able to go up and down with one hand.
The carseat is also well-made and easy to install onto the stroller or in the car.
Bad thing - lots of the attachments have to be purchased separately, and I still don't like the tray (it's only recently become reachable for my 22 mo-old).

  • Lurker from the November 15 board (baby is measuring about a week ahead so he could be born in October) and we just got ours and we got a baby trend travel system and it's super nice! It was $159 and it looks super nice.. I do really like the Jeep Jogger mini system though.. My friend bought it and the few times I watched her son it was amazing!!
  • @charmcity82 I completely agree about having to buy all the attachments separately.  Tray, drink holder and phone pod are must haves for me! I'm willing to pay for the extras to get the stroller I want, but seriously, a tray isn't included?!

Great! Thank you so much for your input. That is really helpful.

  • I'm noticing A LOT of ladies getting joggers. I really wanted one originally but they are pretty bulky folded up and will take a lot of space in my trunk. My question is, is size not an issue for you? And why the jogger vs traditional stroller?
  • @MirandaC1984 baby jogger has a city mini travel system now with seat. You can register for it at BBB if you are there. That may be only place that has it so far as it is new.
  • @VioletandRose baby jogger citi mini set is like the britax but has a pram attachment (if that's what you mean by bassinet) that you can buy on their website FYI!

@pinkj4182, I'm a runner and I run with DD in our BOB. I have the carseat adapter because it allowed me to take her on walks in the stroller without having two strollers to store in our garage. The type of stroller that people get is really just based on how they'll use it. Our jogger is also excellent in stores (it's narrow) and all-terrain (concerts and parks).

    @MirandaC1984

We had that system for my first and LOVED it!
  • I found a chicco one today that I loved and my hubby found a graco one he loved, so we still have to decide. I have the Jeep jogger because a family friend gave it to us after their son stopped using it ( he used it for about 4 months and then stopped so it's basically brand new). My husband wants a separate system for the carseat when baby is younger and as she gets older we can use that one.
  • I have the Chicco key fit system from DD. I love it but the stroller is bulky. If I was buying it all over again, I would have gotten either a jogging stroller or the lightweight option with the travel system.

I know the City Select has a telescoping handle, which is great. And it's an amazing stroller. And I love my City Mini, and wish I'd purchased the Select.

As far as I know the Baby Jogger bassinet/pram is only for the City Select, not the City Mini.
  • @JaqiDec04 yep it's the deluxe pram. Works on most the models. I screenshotted below!

  • I registered for the Graco quick click connect jogger. My friends just purchased the Eddie Bauer jogger and they love theirs too.
