FTMs... When did you "pop"?

I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and was plus size before gastric bypass surgery back in March of 2014. I just assumed that my belly would grow fast because it had been sort of that shape before. However I am barely showing at all. I know that everybody is different and my OB says it'll happen soon, but I just wondered about other people's experiences. Did you 'pop' overnight? I've heard of people doing that. Does the 'B' belly ever even out? Just curious.

Re: FTMs... When did you "pop"?

  • I'm 26wks today, ftm & am plus size. I never really thought it would take this long to show since my waist was always the smallest part of my body lol. But 26 weeks & still haven't really "popped". I do have a B belly but it's still not looking like a pregnant belly. Just a little thicker around the middle. I definitely feel pregnant lol just don't look it most of the time. Still patiently waiting to take belly pics.

  • I am not plus sized but it took me until 23 weeks to pop. I had a tiny baby belly before then but it was hard for anyone else to notice it. I feel like I woke up in my 23rd week and it had just happened overnight.

I think it just depends on the person, not even necessarily on their weight beforehand. I have had friends who started showing very early and friends who you couldn't tell until almost 30 weeks. Hang in there mama, it will happen :)
  • Yeah I think it has to do with the size of your torso. I'm only 5'1" and my torso is the shortest part of me so I popped early. Probably somewhere between 18-20 weeks. But now I get to enjoy people thinking I'm going to have this baby in a month! [-(
  • I am also 22 weeks and haven't "popped" yet.   I am definitely bigger, but it's hard to notice.  I totally get wanting that validating feeling that a baby belly gives you. When strangers find out I'm pregnant they always ask "Where's the baby?!"  ...it's in there I promise.    I am taller and carry mostly in my back so it might be awhile before I'm showing and that's ok.  I keep reminding myself that not being round doesn't make me any less pregnant. And I'm sure it will eventually come.

  • I'm not exactly plus size but I am overweight and have had WLS.  I now weigh 179 (or last time I checked really) and I am 24 weeks. Here's my bump pic from yesterday.  Some days my "bump" looks bigger than others.  Really depends on what I wear.  If my mom asks me one more time why I don't look pregnant, we're gonna have words lol.

  • I'm 4'10" and I popped somewhere at 20-21 weeks. This was me at 21 weeks, 3 days
  • I'm a FTM and I pretty much popped overnight at around 21 weeks (I'm 23 weeks now).
  • Not plus size but not a small/skinny person with my first I was in 3rd tri and still having to tell people I was preggo... And they were surprised. At some point in 3rd tri I think I went from just looking like I gained a little weight to being full on ridiculously big and awkward but I'm not sure when. I think everybody and every pregnancy are different :)

  • I was about 17.5 weeks when I finally looked like I had a little bump rather than bloat. That's when it got firmer and distinct.

I am 5'4" and had a little extra weight before pregnancy - mostly in the lower tummy and butt/thighs.
  • I didn't pop until around 20 weeks. People told me I just looked like I'd eaten too much. LOL.

  • I feel like I got very bloated around week 9-11 and it's been a bloat belly ever since, it's rounded out and grew week by week but I wouldn't call it a pop since a had a "belly" way before week 12 when your uterus grows above your pelvic bone.
  • I'm a first timer here and in 23 and still have no bump. I don't know if I ever will :( lol

  • I'm 25 weeks now, and I finally look pregnant, but I never actually popped. I looked normal for a long time, then a little thicker, then a little more, and so on. I've been taking pictures every week, and it is almost impossible to distinguish one week from the weeks directly before and after. Very gradual. I went up two bra sizes, which meant that for a long time I kept my original proportions, in spite of actually being quite a bit bigger.

I'm short and I've always been thin. In loose-fitting clothing, I still look well within the "normal" weight range for my height. I'm happy that it's now warm enough for tank tops and dresses that show that I'm pregnant.

  • I started looking unquestionably pregnant around 20 weeks. Before that I called it my donut belly.
  • At first glance I thought 'pop' said 'poop' and I was like ????

But for the record, I popped at around 23-24 weeks.

  • @MariahOBrien your last two post pics made me lol.

OP, I didn't 'pop' with my first till about 28-30 weeks. Before that, my waist just gradually got thicker and my boobs and butt expanded.

This time, I've only just started getting regular comments about my bump, but it depends on what I wear. I'm 24 weeks
