SPD help!

My dr hasn't recommended anything for me to do besides Tylenol and I'm getting to the point that this pain is unbearable at times..! I feel like I can't move my lower half of my body or even walk it hurts so bad. I'm scared to see how bad it gets the further along I am.. I'm also starting to get a burning sensation in my groin and pelvis area, not in my vagina but also if I push at all on my groin it hurts and burns so bad.. Anyone have any suggestions to help? Could this be something other than SPD? My dr just says "it's a part of pregnancy", but I never experienced anything like this last pregnancy. I hurt down there some, but nothing like this.. Please someone tell me there's something to do for this!

Re: SPD help!

  • Never sleep without a pillow between your knees/thighs. Use a belly support belt. Don't sit or stand for too long at a time. Stretch out your hips when you can. Shift your position when you are sitting. Hmm... I think that's all I can think of right now. This is my second time dealing with SPD. It certainly makes it hard to enjoy pregnancy. Good luck!

  • Here are a couple of articles about SPD and pain management (I did not see anything about taking Tylenol in either article. I'm sure it's safe, but I, personally, try to find non pain-pill ways to deal with pain first. I can't imagine Tylenol being that effective for this sort of pain either?)

  • I'm not sure how SPD feels (sorry you are in so much pain)! My friend had some kind of hernia in her groin that was excruciating but they couldn't do anything for her and it went away after the baby was born. Hang in there mama
  • @komorebi will you post those links you had posted in a previous page here !
  • My dr sent me to physical therapy. That does seem to be helping! Good luck!
  • @amberrmariee20 SPD is different from pelvic floor dysfunction, so the squats won't help, and actually might make the SPD pain worse :/
  • I have SPD and I know walking makes it worse, and so does getting dressed, rolling over in bed :( ! I thought the 2 were similar ! Yikes !
  • My dr suggested I see a chiropractor that has a Webster certification when I complained of pelvis pain (I'm not diagnosed with anything). They have extra training on pregnant women. My pelvis has definitely decreased in pain although it's not completely gone.
  • Thanks everyone, I always sleep with a pillow between my legs and it doesn't help. And although the dr suggested Tylenol I really haven't took any since I hate taking any medication during pregnancy. I would love to see a physical therapist or chiropractor, but my dr hasn't mentioned it or referred me to anyone. I just don't want this pain to cause me to not even be able to walk towards the end.. It hurts to even move and even when I don't move!! It's hard since I'm constantly needing to chase my 18 month old around..

    Yuck sounds miserable!!!!!! Sorry mama!

SPD is a bone issue (hips widening) where PFD is muscle related (like urine leaking, etc)

Yea bone issues suck. My doctor thinks it's because my previous son was 9.7 lbs and my body didn't fully heal. It's terrible !!
