Where have you registered?

I'm starting to look at registries and was thinking I'd sign up at Babies R Us, Target and Amazon but I don't want to overdo it. Where are you registering?

Re: Where have you registered?

  • I did Babies R Us and Amazon. Figured I could cover all types of shoppers with those two!
  • Loading the player...
  • buybuybaby and babiesrus
  • Babies R Us and Target.
  • Amazon and Walmart. I think I'm going to look at Target as well because I got a coupon for a free $20 gift card when I start a new registry and I'm all about getting free stuff especially since we are stock piling gift cards for diapers later.
  • I registered at target, babies r us and Amazon
  • I got the $20 gift card for registering at Target, which I was planning on registering there anyways. Plus, you can't turn down free money. I am also registered on Amazon and some things from Pottery Barn. I also used myregistry.com to compile all my registries in one place and so I could add things from little boutique or online stores that don't have registries. A note about that though, I definitely recommend creating a registry at each individual store for 2 reasons- most offer completion discounts for things left on your registry and if you only use those websites when people go into the store they cannot pull up your registry in the stores system (the one that tells you where everything is in the store and if someone has bought it).
  • Babies r us, Amazon, and wal-mart.
  • Babies r us, and target. We did originally have a babylist registry but due to some generational gaps it was just easier to go to semi universal stores. We live 800+ miles away from our home state. Where our families, close friends, and the shower will be. We have turned the babylist into a sort of checklist for ourselves though, of personal items we are buying.

Babies R Us and Target I created a registry. I had these linked to my Babyli.st account so I could add my cloth diaper list and a couple Etsy randoms.
  • I love the idea of BabyList but I have way too many old fashioned friends and family members that it just didn't work for us.

We did Target & Buy Buy Baby! Mostly because of cost and convenience for everyone.

Wait what? I registered at Target and got an awesome gift bag but no gift card? How'd you get it? We also registerd at Amazon. DH is from MI and we live in NC. We thought Amazon is an easy way for out of towners to give gifts and also the prices are awesome.

  • Buybuy baby. Feel like 3 places is PLenty! I only did 1 bc I don't want to have to manage multiple registries and duplicate gifts. They had enough of what I need and buying some stuff used and for nursery on my own bc I know what I want!
  • Target... I shopped around at different places online and felt like their prices were the best. Plus their completion discount (15%) is pretty good. I'm also registered for some stuff on Amazon that I couldn't find on Target, but Target now let's you add items from other websites to your list (kinda like Amazon does), so I added all the Amazon stuff to my Target registry.  @MirandaC1984 I got the $20 gift card in the mail yesterday. I would assume they sent it to me because I registered with them, so maybe it is on the way?
  • I just went with Target. Orginally had made one for target and babies r us but ultimately decided to delete the babies r us one and stick with one list at target.
  • Babies R Us and Amazon.
  • Babies R Us and Amazon. Babies R Us is the only major baby store we have around where I live and it is the easiest to relatives to shop at. Also, I like their selection. I love registering on Amazon because they have everything you could think of. I also have friends who prefer to buy online because of the ease.
  • BabyList is where it's at! You can literally register anywhere that has a website, they send you free registry card inserts for your invitations, and all your family/friends have to do is click the item and it takes them right to the website. If they wanna buy a specific item but can't pay for it right that second, they can reserve it too. Also, if you live out of state from family, it keeps your address so when they decide to buy and ship it to you, it sends it to your address! Cake! Plus when you first register with them, you take a short quiz and they send you a personalized list of items you will need to add to your registry (not brands, just item categories).

Not to mention, they send you email updates when items on your registry are either no longer available or they have changed price. Customer service answers your questions within 24 hours by email. It has made my life so much easier.
  • Just Target. We also "only" got the gift bag with samples and coupons, but not a $20 gift card. Maybe it depends on when you created your registry? Doesn't matter to me, I LOVE the gift bag they gave us!
  • I'm registered at Amazon and BuyBuyBaby. There isn't much on either. Stroller adapters for the new car seat, a new big sister car seat for DD, a crib and bassinet, then some clothes and things. It's mostly a checklist for us. But people like registries.

You have the $20 gift card coupon already? Before you set up a registry at Target? I would really like that $20 gift card (I've been saving Target gift cards to buy an extra car seat base). But it sounds like not everyone got it. What do you have to do to get that!?!

  • Also, when did everyone register? I was waiting until after we found out the gender. But now that we know it still seems so early. My shower isn't until at least September. Maybe even early October (my due date is Oct 27) because my MIL will be out of town and its at her house. I also didn't want to deal with seasonal or discontinued items removed (this happened with our wedding registry).
  • I registered w/ Target and Babies R Us. I got a gift bag from Babies...but nothing from Target. I think I missed out!

  • @KLHauck12 I started adding things to lists on Amazon pretty much right when we found out, just because it was fun to look at things and pick them out. But I didn't finalize everything until probably the week before my shower invitations went out. I would suggest starting to look around just to see what you like because there are so many options.
  • BabyList.
(Also Target, & Babies R Us but just for the discount on things we don't get.  The only one we are sharing is BabyList.)

I registered last week. Our baby showers will be Aug 2 and the 29th. I wanted to have the registry done before my friends sent out invites which should be soon.

  • I registered at buy buy baby, and want to also register at amazon for other people who would prefer this, but I feel like I'm just repeating what I put on my list. Any suggestions to keep from doubling up? Should I just stick to one?

The items I put on my BRU registry are must-haves, because I figured most people would be buying from there. The items on my Amazon registry are "nice to haves" or cutesy stuff, like a snow suit, hat/glove/bootie set, travel changing kit, thermometer, etc.
  • Thanks! That is a great idea.

Yes I do. It came in the mail on the back of a target baby brochure.
  • @lucky10liz, how did you get the gift bag from BRU? Did you register in-store?

@KLHauck12, I agree with @devonsd315 said. I started early but am now in the process of finalizing, since shower invites are going out next week. I liked starting early enough that I had time to do a little amd theb leave it for a week or whatever. Helpfull when doing research and comparing items to have that time. Yes, a few things may discontinue, but the relaxed feeling of doing it gradually is worth it for me.

I am registering with Babies R Us for most things and BabyEarth for a few more unique and natural items.

I made my registry online and then saw somewhere (pinterest I think) that you get a gift for registering there. I just went to the store itself and asked if it was true. They went in back and got it! It was a nice little surprise when I found that out.

I did Babies R Us and Amazon.  Here's how I broke things down:

Amazon:  Anything that can't be picked up for free in store at Babies R Us or that wouldn't qualify for free shipping from Babies R Us.

BRU:  Big ticket items that can be picked up in store or shipped for free and some small items that can be picked up in store for free.

My reasoning is this:  people buying from BRU are more likely to make purchases in store, so I don't want them to have to pay shipping.  Also, BRU gives me 10% back on purchases, so anything that is big-ticket and would qualify for free shipping from both BRU and Amazon, I just put on the BRU registry so we could get the 10% back.  Also, Amazon allowed me to add items that weren't available at BRU, like things from Etsy and other websites.

    Hope that helps!

Edited to add:  If the big stuff at BRU was more expensive than at Amazon, we went with Amazon!  We aren't THAT into getting our 10% back!

We did the "big" items on our amazon registry because they were priced better there. Things I don't mind getting multiples of I put on both (diapers, blankets, sleep sacks, pacifiers, bottles etc.)

    @mlobrummond
I will have to go back and see if they'll do the same! I also registered for Target online and never got a gift card. I thought I just missed the train in that one since I didn't do it in store.

Thanks for posting that! Super appreciate that little bit of info! :)
  • There isn't a baby's r us near me, so I'm going to register at Target and Amazon...I did these two for my wedding and it worked out so well!! I don't know when I'm going to start though...I feel like its an overwhelming can of worms that I'm not ready to open yet lol! I'm due Halloween so I've got some time, I think my first small family shower is mid August.
  • Thanks for your input! I have started researching the big items. I have a binder of notes comparing different brands so when go to register, we know what we want. All those choices can be overwhelming! I just wasn't sure when to actually start the registering process....aka when my deadline is for making the decisions on which products I want!

I'd just be sure you do it before any invitations to your shower get sent out.
