Sorry to hear you went through some tough times before finding out!  While it's great that you're having a boy and we are all excited about our growing babies, there are threads stickied on the front page for announcements about their sex (and name ideas).  It is highly encouraged that you lurk for a while, use the search feature, etc. before posting a new thread to avoid repeat posts.

I'm sorry you feel that way. But if you spent any amount of time on here, you'd know how things work and that posts like this may not go over well. Because there are designated posts for sharing exciting news like this, your post just makes it seem like you think you're too good for posting with everyone else and wanted all the attention. NOT saying that's what you intended, but that's how it looks.

All I'm saying is this is a community and there are rules and guidelines to follow. So just familiarize yourself with it before you jump in feet first.

Don't worry about the annoying hall monitors. Given that they're not in charge of anything, you CAN post whatever you'd like. They knew what this post was going to be about based on the title and if there were going to be any comments, only one snarky commented was needed to inform you there's a rather boring post already that's pages upon pages where people are posting the sex (that I don't have time to keep up with, I don't know how they do). Anyhow, that being said, thanks for your sharing your good news. Congrats and cute picture!

The thread title clearly tells me what this is about? Fooled me. I was actually thinking someone got bad news and was coming in to see if they needed advice.

"Today we found out that..." Could have about a thosand endings.

Also, if you can't keep up with all the sex announcement posts on ONE THREAD, why should we all be expected to wade through new threads for each one? Ps - if you've ever heard of the Internet, this Announcement wasn't even all that original.

I'm not trying to be mean, but if you don't spend much time here and don't have any relationship with any of us, why do you expect us to be invested in the sex of your child?  This is the equivalent to running into the maternity section of your local store and shoving your announcement in the faces of the women shopping there.  Would you expect them all to be excited and congratulatory or would you expect someone to say something about the way you are acting and possibly call security on you?

Maybe a "Congrats, join us in the team blue community thread" comment. You can remind people of the rules without biting off their heads. Not everyone is familiar with the rules and making them feel like crap about breaking them doesnt help. If i was a lurker and saw this i would be scared to post in fear of saying the wrong thing.

"YOU BROKE THE RULESSSSS. GTFO." It doesnt build the community it just makes people feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. There is a way to make sure the community is on one accord while still being gentle, compassionate and understand.


Oh and congrats OP. Im also team blue and announced it in the community thread.

I'm a little confused here. I spend a fair amount of time on this board and am aware of pink and blue and green threads. However last week we had 2-3 posters who created separate threads and all was positive. Perhaps I'm missing something but I was confused by that and again I'm confused by this. Unless I missed something it seems a little inconsistent.

Anyways--congrats on the boy op.

There are times when the members who are annoyed by those threads open them, eye roll, and close them without making any commentary.

This. When the thread subject is clearly a sex announcement, I blow over it. posting a vague thread title gets you whatever opinions you get, because vague titles are obnoxious.
