Immunizations

I know shots are given at 2 months. Do they determine that by days or by weeks? My daughter was born on the 5th of May. She will be 8 weeks on the 30th. But 2 months in days on the 5th of July. I'm asking because I need her shots for daycare and go back to work on the 7th and the Clinic on base is closed on the 6th.

Re: Immunizations

  • She can have her immunizations as early as 6 weeks, so I would go ahead and get them before the holiday weekend.

  • Immunizations don't have to be administered exactly at 2 weeks. As long as they occur at LOs 2 months check up. My daughter was born on the 6th and she had/has her 1 month and 2 month check ups on the 11th of the month.
  • It might depend on your pediatrician. Our 2 month appointment is scheduled based on months - so DS will be 9 weeks old that day.
  • I don't think it matters. When we scheduled his 2 month shots, the peds office went by weeks. He just got his today at 8 weeks. We scheduled his 4 month shots and the lady went by the day of month. So he will be technically 4 months not 16 weeks. So I would say you can do them before the 5th.
