Well shucks..

I ordered the wusic fetal Doppler and after searching & searching, I kept hearing something that sounded like wind blowing in one area. So after focusing closely in that area, I found a heartbeat. Unfortunately, now I'm second guessing if it was actually a fetal heartbeat or just my own. I tried counting but it was very difficult. Anyways, thanks for the suggestion @Heron422 , I do like this Doppler so far so I'm not giving up! Thursday is my first prenatal appt so I guess I will get official confirmation.

Has anybody else experienced this "wind-like" noise when using your Doppler? I was wondering if it's the placenta. Idk, I'm looking for every ounce of excitement I can!

Thanks

    The fetal heartbeat should sound like a galloping horse. An easy way to rule out your own HB is to take your pulse at the same time and see if it matches up with the beats on your Doppler.

  • How far along are you? And wusic no misspell?
  • The wind noise is your placenta! The baby's heart beat is super fast like pp said. Good luck! I found my baby's tonight and it's right at pelvic bone, it was my first time using it so it took me a good 10 minutes.

    I agree with PP. Wind noise is your placenta (:. I actually hear this noise very very close in area where I finally find the heartbeat. It's not fun looking for it, but once you do, it is so worth it. I have been using my doppler for a few weeks now and I have noticed that it's staying in the "general area" but not in the exact same spot. I was surprised at how low it at actually was when I first found it (although my very first use, I literally put the doppler wand down, and I found it... ever since it has not been as easy). Watch a few videos on Google to help you if you don't have a ton of luck. Best wishes (;
  • Thanks ladies. So I just rechecked again and I can't say I indeed found the baby's heartbeat but I did hear my heartbeat (confirmed with my pulse) and a little more to the left toward the center I found a faster heartbeat. I wouldn't compare it to a galloping horse..maybe bc I'm only 9w3d I realize the fetus is still very small. But I feel better now :)

    @abbi1995 , I think the way to look I up is "womb music" but the company is called wusic tech :)
  • Keep being patient! I wait until the end of the day, after I'm ready for bed and have a full bladder. Lying down in bed, I take some deep breaths and just relax, telling myself I will only give it 5 minutes. It's ok if I don't find it, she's super tiny still! Use LOTS of gel (I've been using after sun aloe) and go slowly in a pattern across my abdomen. I watched some youtube videos to familiarize myself with the other sounds in there (my heartbeat, the whooshing placenta, gurgling tummy). You will know when you find the baby, it's pretty fast, even at 9wks :) This last time I listened at 11w, she was moving all around! I had to follow her haha. Good luck!! You'll find it <3

  • It definitely works much better with a full bladder. I'm 12 weeks and it's still a little harder for me to find and much quieter right after I use the restroom. Once you hear it a few times it will be very easy to distinguish from other sounds in there. Good luck! It's the best feeling being able to hear it!

  • Wind noise is the placenta! The fast little chug-a-chug-a is the baby's heartbeat :) it can be really tough to find it this early. I always find it then lose it and can't find it again until the next time I try.
