Dark Spotting at 34 Weeks

Hello Fellow Bumpies,

I started having some dark spotting last week and the worry is driving me crazy. I've seen my OB three times since the first sign of the spotting (two of these times in triage). They tell me that since the blood is dark its probably 'old blood' and it isn't as worrisome as it would be if the blood were bright red.  They've checked the baby with ultrasound and everything looks fine. The cervix is closed, the placenta is attached and I have plenty of amniotic fluid. They've also checked if baby is doing practice breathing and moving well - which he is. 

My OB said that right now its not critical but he will continue to monitor me closely. The spotting is still occurring, although its not as much as that first initial incident. Its minor spotting and continues to be dark in color. Can I go through to the end and still be spotting? Is that okay?

Has anyone else gone through something similar?
