Annoyed

completely annoyed with my doctor I'm really thinking about finding another facility to go to. I've had minor complications of pregnancy between bleeding and stuff that comes and goes everything is checking out okay but I still get nervous with no explanations.haven't had any spotting or bleeding for the last week or so that makes me feel at ease and I did get the home Doppler which is a miracleto hear baby everyday. here's the thing I was due for my first intake appointment on July 7th I would have been 12 weeks which is normal I called today to confirm my appointment and they rescheduled it for the 14th I will be almost 14 weeks pregnant does that seem late for your first PNI appointment..and y didn't they inform me. I also have gotten no blood work or a pap smear yet... seems really late for my first appointment when does everyone else have their first appointments??

Re: Annoyed

  • I had my first apt @ 7 weeks for the confirmation and to meet the doctor and he ordered blood work. We have our 2nd apt today @10 weeks and this it for the tip to toe exam, go over blood work and first Us. I would think that would be too late but a lot of docs do things differently.. I would talk to them and explain your concerns.

  • My OBGYN always wants to see pregnant patients asap. That appt includes u/s, pap, bp, weight, q&a, and a discussion of what types of testing you want so he can order them. This time I held off that appt until 9 weeks just because earlier ultrasounds can be nerve wracking. I also have an elective u/s today at 11w5d because of a mmc last pregnancy. My Dr says that he gives his pregnant patients scheduling priority if I feel like I need to see him at any other time. I did a lot of homework to find him, but I couldn't ask for anything better. Yours is out there too.
  • My OB doesn't see patients til 10-12 weeks. I have seen her earlier and and had many tests and an early US because of previous losses. 13 weeks isn't TOO far past normal. However, I'd be more concerned that they didn't call to tell you about the change and ask you what a good time to reschedule would be. That alone would have me looking for a new doc. Better now than later!

  • My first appt was at 8 weeks. And it was 3 hours long!!! We did an US, PAP, blood work, met with a nutritionist, and talked about all the tests we could have done. They also went over what to expect from here on out. My next appt is set up for 12 weeks.
  • I would find another facility honestly. This is my first and I got my first ultrasound appt at 7 weeks and then my second appointment will be at 12 and a half weeks on the 25th however with an er scare we had a follow up is appt when I was 10 weeks and all was well. If you aren't happy with what they provide you have every right to change! I would but that's my opinion. Goodluck

I had my first appointmest at 9 weeks, got an ultrasound and everything looked good, so... next appointment was scheduled for 4 weeks later, July 7th. At the first appointment I didn't get anything other than an ultrasound and a little discussion time because my doctor likes to break things up a bit to not overwhelm her moms-to-be. At this next appointment I will get blood work done, just normal state mandated and some essentials and then I will get a lot of information about the pregnancy and we will begin talking about a birth plan. I wont have another ultra-sound until 20 weeks, so just the 9 week one and the 20 week one. I don't think I have to get a pap-smear either because I had my yearly at the beginning of the year and everything came back fine. (I did just have a yeast infection, so I was swabbed then so I am not too concerned about that)

This is my first, so I talked to my doctor 1-2 times a week. If your doctor is not there for you now she wont be in the future. I would start looking for someone a little more hands-on if that is what you want. I would be very unhappy if I were you and I would start looking and getting referrals now.
