October 2015 Moms

Plus size mommies I need help with the spouse!!!!

i think my child's father is beginning to fell left out when the baby kicks or moves. Granted I feel them bit they're not knock out licks. Which I only get every blue moon, I guess because he is very active. I wonder if the issue has anything to with being a plus size mommy? Is it just me being impatient? And who all is experiencing this at 24 weeks? Help I think his feelings are hurt!

Re: Plus size mommies I need help with the spouse!!!!

  • My husband has only really felt one kick. It was low down, I had to kinda hold my tummy up so he could. That was at 24+2.

  • Note, I also have an anterior placenta
  • It really depends. I know some moms at this stage who barely are feeling kicks themselves, plus size or not. Once baby is bigger, baby will move more. 30+ weeks will be the times dad will start to really feel something.
  • I am plus sized with an AP and my hubby felt a kick for the first time last night. I was 24+1. I just got to a point where I feel substantial kicks, I guess because baby is bigger/stronger now. OB told me it will be harder for anyone to see or feel these kicks until later since I did start out bigger than other women so don't fret, it will happen, just may take a little longer.
  • I really don't know if it has to do with plus size or not, but hubby really couldn't feel decent kicks until baby was much bigger. Right now I barely feel it, so I know he won't yet. But around 30 weeks is when we could actually see feet in my belly.

  • Dh can feel it if the baby kicks closer to my belly button or above it.. but still not strongly. In a few weeks it will be easier :)

  • My SO has problems feeling the baby move, while I can feel it very strongly. I'm only 21w3d though, so that might change?
  • I'm plus size with an AP also. 22w2d. My husband has felt Baby move three or four times. I feel him move everyday, but it's sporadic. My husband gets a little bummed out. I think he expected to feel really distinct kicks when he feels Baby move, but it's more of just rolls.
  • I have a friend at 31 weeks that is not plus size whose SO still hasn't been able to feel their little guy kick. She doesn't have an anterior placenta either and I think they both wish so badly that he could feel a kick or something too. Guys have such a harder time connecting during pregnancy so I totally understand frustration. I hope your SO feels something soon!
  • I think you are so sweet for caring about his feelings. It's nice when they get excited about it. You'll get there. Still early on. It's our third, but our babies are 7 and 9, so it's been a long time. I laugh when he gets frustrated because he can barely feel it. I tell him, "too bad buddy! Maybe next time!"
  • Tell him to be patient :) he's lucky he doesnt have to carry the baby and birth the littles...its all good :) every dad has to be patient with their little baby and it will eventually be super noticeable! Lying down helps too. Sometimes you can see the belly move. Also my husband says he puts his head on the belly because his cheek is more sensitive to movement than his hands. My husband says he can hear the baby swooshing around too so maybe he can bond that way too :)
