OMG ladies!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! I am so glad that y'all have sense and are reasonable!!. It is good to know that there are actually other expecting mothers who are educated enough to understand that it's ok to have a drink on occasion, or eat pasteurized cheese, etc. In was on here about 1 1/2 yrs ago and the first blog I read was ladies freaking out over their Thanksgiving meals and how they had 1/2 a margarita the night they conceived and they were SO worried, etc. I couldn't handle it so I never logged back into the blog section. I already feel at home with y'all!!!.

We have a tradition that on Sunday mornings at work, we order bacon & egg rolls for our morning tea. I couldn't give up my secret and I didn't want to miss out so I had one and probably will again. The bacon was hardly cooked so that was a little concerning. I also had kabana & wine before I knew I was pregnant (and god knows what else)! I'm pretty good now but I'm not going to be anal about it. I feel like this baby is sticking around so I'm happy enough with that.
I honestly don't eat many of the alleged no-no foods on a daily basis anyway (I've been told I eat like a fancy 8 year old, lol), but I definitely had a glass of wine while traveling to Sonoma before I knew I was pregnant, but I suspected I might be, as well as a huge hunk of brie with some San Francisco sourdough, so worth it. Now I'm totally craving soft cheese, now that I said that, I may have to run out and get some pasteurized brie at the store
Honestly there are so few things that sound appetizing to me right now that I'm basically living off of spaghetti and red sauce and fiber one bars. I'm hoping with the 2nd trimester my appetite returns and I can start even thinking about what is healthy to eat!
I eat what I want when I can. Who knows when I'll be sick again and not be able to keep anything down!
I don't like eggs, drink coffee/alcohol, or smoke even when I'm not pregnant; so those aren't really temptations.
I drink caffeine daily though. I was pretty careful about it with my first, especially in the first trimester. But this one, I'm like, I am going to pass out from exhaustion. I just keep it under 200mg.
I've probably broken the rules on fish already. And I haven't had sushi yet, but I'm going with my sisters to get it in a few weeks!
And you girls who are even thinking about working out get major props! The fact that I get dressed in normal clothes most of the week is a success for me.
LOL apparently I've been doing a lot of things wrong. Eggs are my jam, in all forms (ok except raw, but that's for personal reasons...aka I think it's gross).
Wait are you not supposed to eat a pop tart every time you take your prenatal? I've convinced myself that I read this in a medical textbook in college.

I can back you up on the pop tart thing. They're becoming my (almost) every night snack.
I've been craving large amounts of ketchup with whatever I'm eating. And normally not a ketchup person.
We went to a bday. I drank a bunch of coke and felt guilty. Also ate a few pieces of feta. I am less paranoid now than i was 1st time. My dd is doing great and I hope to continue the trait
Before I found out I was pregnant, DH and I were on vacation at the beach. I probably ate more seafood there than I've ever eaten in my life! I also drank like a fish. Whoops. When we got back home, I was 2 days late on my period so I decided to test. Got my BFP in the grocery store bathroom! I couldn't wait to get home to take the test. Since then I've been trying to do everything in moderation, no alcohol but I do have the occasional cup of coffee.
LOLing at fingernail of feta. That's Bump gold right there. I had forgotten about that.
I have eaten feta and other soft cheeses probably 3 times per week for the past two months. I had a major craving for Brie the other day and just HAD to go out and buy some. I eat lunch meat, medium-rare steak, and I had about 1/4 of a beer a couple weeks ago.
And now I want soft-boiled eggs on toast like no one's business.
I had to look up the fingernail of feta thing and came across a thread of people posting the most absurd threads they've seen on thebump. Welcome to crazytown!
Is it true that pasteurized feta and goat cheese is ok?! I have been avoiding goat cheese and it's making me an angry elf. I randomly read the other day that it has everything to do with the fact that soft cheeses are LESS likely to be pasteurized? So if I buy it myself, and I can read the container, am I in the clear?
This has got to be my favourite thread yet! I'm a first time mom and they put the fear of god in you! Don't do this don't eat that. Its hard to keep track! But thank god for you ladies! Ive been eatin complete crap the last 2 months because Ive been so naseous so I'm hoping for better things in tri 2. I would kill for an over easy egg and you have all convinced me to do it! I feel guilty as it is to be neglecting my fruits and veggies due to sickness, so why not add to the list!
The only direction my doctor gave me was to use common sense, cook my food, and make sure the dairy was pasteurized. He went on to say that at this point there is very little I can do to hurt my baby, that I shouldn't smoke crack, but that most babies exposed to crack end up ok. I love him.
I had a ham and cheese sandwich this morning for breakfast. With all the mayo. My midwife said that if I want to eat deli meat that eating the pre packaged (i.e. hillshire farms) deli meat was best to avoid added nitrates. I think 4th of July weekend (start of second tri) I will have ONE Corona light with lime. I love Corona in the summer. mmmm
Other than that, I've eaten tuna fish sandwiches, haddock, cod, so much shrimp (cooked though), feta, Subway, cold supreme pizza, runny egg sandwich on moldy bread (I almost puked). My midwife said "All of our mothers and grandmothers used to eat all of these things and we're fine. Just keep certain things in moderation." I love my clinic. They've been the absolute best. My SO's mother told me that I need to pamper myself. She said she regretted not pampering herself with her first and really indulged with her second. She's precious.
Love this! I've enjoyed soft cheeses and sushi. FTM and trying to enjoy pregnancy as much as possible since the 1st tri was sooo rough. I have felt like the store owner on "What to Expect While You're Expecting." I had such a beautiful idea if what it'd be like!
Re: I'm so bad...
Please someone understand my reference.
