Teething

My little guy is 13 weeks old today and he started teething at 11 weeks but the last couple days have been absolutely painful for him. He kept waking up tonight after I would put him down bc of the discomfort.. I finally gave him a bit of Tylenol to help relieve the pain but that is the last thing I turn to when nothing else seems to work. I've tried all sorts of teething rings and also rubbing on his gums but it only helps for a moment. I'm a FTM, do any of you know any tricks or products that may help soothe them during these teething times?

Re: Teething

  • Same here my lil one is 15 w and she is going through it bad. Fists blanket anything she can get a hold of. Idk what to do. I'm going to get oral gel hopefully it works

FYI: Orajel is not recommended for babies this young. This info comes from the Orajel website:

I just noticed today my LO has 2 teeth! ( she's 16 weeks today) One is almost all the way through and the other just broke through the gums. Poor lil thing I was wondering why she was waking up several times at night. She isn't really taking to teething rings, I think they're too cold for her. The nurse at her Drs office suggested putting a damp face cloth in the freezer and letting her chew on that. I'm currently waiting for that to freeze so I can try it!

My Doctor told me he refuses to allow orajel. Even when she is old enough. Said it can do more harm than good. My LO has been feverishly gnawing on everything and I felt a small bump on her gums... Might be that first tooth. She has also been sleeping a lot more. Either growing or teeth. But as a FTM I'm just riding it out.

My dr told me the same thing. She said that u could overdose your baby without u even noticing it.

  • Check out Raw Baltic Amber teething necklaces. They don't chew on them they just wear them.
My oldest is 2 years & she is cutting 3 out of 4 of her 2 year molars & I didn't even know it. I got mine off eBay.
Word of advice the polished ones aren't as strong as the nugget types when it comes to pain relief.
It's like taking ibuprofen. I sprained my ankle really bad & I wore one as an anklet & the swelling went down & it quit hurting the next day.
I'm all about natural stuff. Also if you are into essential oils lavender rubbed along the jawline helps too but I haven't had to use it since I found the Baltic Amber necklaces :)
Good luck ladies, I swear by these necklaces!
I'm not tech savvy or I'd add a link lol
  • The hyland teething tablets work really really good
  • I've used the Babyganics teething pods, just rub a little on the gums.  I've never used a whole pod at a time though, just a bit where it hurts.  Its clove oil & stevia.  When my son was teething & I'd put it on his gums he'd fall asleep within minutes.  I made sure to stock up on some for when DD starts - any time I'm thinking too.
