I feel like germs have been insane this year in school. I am suspicious that my 2 yr old has strep again. This would be the third time this year!! She had it really bad in the winter and had scarlet fever. Then got it once more after that. Last night she was really fussing. Not sleeping well. Whining a lot. Won't eat much. Like hasn't eaten a full meal since Thursday night. Keeps saying her tongue hurts. It does look slightly white too which makes me think strep too.
Ugh. I just worry about her. She's been a trooper with the new baby but she's acting out a little more. She'll say 'I want mommy' when I'm right there.
My mom is pestering me about potty training and taking her paci. Both of which are on my to do list while I'm off. But I feel like tour little guy is just over two weeks old. I kinda want to give her another week to adjust. It's just a lot of change at once for her. . My little peanut. I don't like it when she's having a hard time. Hopefully no strep on top of it!
Ooh yeah. I'm totally convinced that it's strep now. Her tongue is basically white. It's 11:49pm here and she's woken up screaming owie. I just gave her motrin and a glass of milk. Oh boy. To the doctor we go on Monday. Please please let's keep these gerns away from my 2 wk old baby boy.
Oh no!!!!! I feel like your mom and my MIL might have been talking LOL. My daughter was just shy of 2 when my son was born. My MIL was all over the potty training thing. I can tell you I ignored my MIL, I tried my DD a couple times on the potty right after she turned 2 but didn't push it and figured she just wasn't ready. I would sit her on the potty and she woulnd't go, would then stand up and pee on the floor. It kind of happened naturally. I would have her got potty before she got in the tub each night and try her here and there and eventually, when she was ready, she went and has been trained with both pee and poop at about the same time. She was about 2.5? As for the binki she is 3 now and still takes a paci at nap and bedtime only. I have talked to the dentist about it and her response was by 4 she would like to see it gone but since it is a way for her to self soothe to go to sleep and that it is used just for sleep to leave it be for now. She said "you can always fix the teeth, you can't as easily fix the mind." I LOVE her!
Hope your little lady feels better soon. So sad when they are sick
Awww, I hope she gets better soon. And as my best friend told me: the best tool with dealing with one's mom when it comes to childcare is to smile and nod, and do things your way.
I'll call the dr tomorrow. It's either strep or hand foot mouth. It was all white. Now it's like time bubbles all over her tongue. Im still thinking strep because she doesn't have sores or blisters anywhere else. But she's eating pancakes for dinner right now. First actual meal since Thursday night.
I may have to keep giving her the paci at night. I just feel like it's too much at one time for her. .
Oh I'm so sorry...poor girl!! I hope she will get over it quickly!
Don't let anyone pressure you to train at two. There are actually some really good medical arguments why it's better to wait until closer to three. It's much better to see when your child is ready than to force it. The bladder is still growing and if a child starts holding it because they are being forced to potty train, it can affect the development of the bladder and lead to frequent infections, bedwetting and emotional turmoil.
Hugs to you, mama! Sorry you keep getting slammed!
Me:41, DH:41 Positive for MTHFR mutations- one copy C677T, one copy A1298C. One daughter born on Thanksgiving in 2013. Six losses.
I was right. She tested positive for strep this morning. Antibiotics started this afternoon. Hopefully she'll feel better soon. She does much better when she's on motrin. Although last night I wondered if Daddy slipped her something stronger! I asked her if she wanted to help me run her bath and make bubbles and she smiled super big and said noo mamma let's make rainbows!! Lol. I thought Hmm wow.
@Guennie I totally agree with you on potty training. She gets moved to the preschool to at school in September. She has to be potty trained after that or she can't start pr school. But she turns 3 the end of October. When she asks to sit on the potty, I will put her on the potty but most of the time she doesn't do anything. She's pooped three times in the last month in the potty. But she's not very consistent with it yet. I also haven't pushed taking the paci yet. She only has it during nap at school. I don't bring it to her if she doesn't have it. I just haven't taken them all away yet.
@mandyreads ya know the pediatrician mentioned that our newborn isn't at risk because of the position of their tonsils. But he didn't mention Olivia's tonsils at all. Do they generally talk about removing them? She's 2. She will be 3 in October. Mine are out but I was 11 when I had mine out.
Re: Ugh. Will the sickness ever end??
