So I knew I did not want to do the glucose test from the beginning, but I don't think the why is important to this post. What I did want to share is that there is an alternative. I had read about doing blood sugar testing on your own (just like diabetes testing). My doctor brought up the glucose test at our last appointment and so I asked him about doing regular blood sugar teading instead and he was totally on board! He said it is actually much more accurate because the regular testing misses 10% of gestational diabetes cases. He said that all I will have to do is test once per day at different times for 2 weeks leading up to the 28 week appointment where I would normally have had the test. He also said periodically spot checking for the rest of the pregnancy would be a good idea. There was a learning curve to using the kit, but once I got used to it it was extremely fast and easy. I also think it will be way faster than the glucose test when you add up the time. Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else was looking for an alternative for whatever reason.

Re: Glucose Test ALTERNATIVE
It really isn't that bad.
Well unless you fail and need the three hour or end up with diabetes. That's no fun.
Edit: my grammar stinks lately.
