Taking the plunge..

I have officially bought maternity work clothes. I am only 9 weeks today, however this bloat is so bad some days my clothes fit and others, (like today) I can't wait to get home and get in a night gown or sweat pants. I know I'm not showing but everyone says I am. I just want to look at them and say nope just gassy. ...vent over.

Re: Taking the plunge..

  • I am 10 1/2 weeks and have been wearing maternity pants for a few weeks now. I work in production so my uniform pants were uncomfortable to begin with! :-)

  • I've been wearing my bella band for a week now, no one's noticed and I feel SO much better!

  • 11w2d and I switched to maternity pants yesterday ------ sooooooo much better! My first pregnancy so my first maternity pants. These are amazing (white jeans from Target and seem just as nice as the $90 non-maternity jeans I own). Maybe I'll never stop wearing them.
  • I'm 9 weeks and I'm wearing a maternity shirt today! Things are just so uncomfortable around the middle, I get it!

I am 11 weeks 4 days and I am in maternity pants too. I can still fit in my regular pants, but the maternity pants are so much more comfortable for sitting all day at work! My body is so uncomfortable nowadays, so I'm all for anything that makes me feel better!
  • I'm 11w4d and I've been wearing maternity clothes to work for a couple weeks now. I have to dress nicely at work so my pants had a hook and eye, not a button, so I couldn't extend them easily like I did with my jeans. But seriously, maternity pants feel like yoga pants but look nicer!
  • I want to wear maternity clothes but I feel like they really show off the belly.  I am barely 10 weeks and not ready to tell everyone at work until after my Dr. appt. in another week.  So, for those of you wearing maternity clothes to work, have you already told people at work?  I am hoping I can last another week, but I agree, my clothes are so uncomfortable.......I think it is contributing to my nausea and overall just feeling blah.....should I just tell or wait it out another week?
  • I wear stretchy pants as it is. They're doing well so far. I just bigger ones for later on lol. I did buy a few maternity tanks just for the length which I'll need by end of summer and will layer with through the fall. My biggest worry is a winter coat eventually. I'll deal with that in the fall!

I put on the two pairs of shorts I pulled out of my off season clothes bin. :( They didn't fit at alll! Like, no way in HE11 I was closing them. My love handles are growing at the same speed as my uterus. I can't wait to feel better tummy wise so I can work out again. Luckily, I can get away with yoga pants at work. My next purchase will be a bra. I would like my boobs at a normal height. Not weighed down helping with the whole no-waist movement that is sweeping my mid section currently.

I want to get a bella band this weekend.  My dress pants are getting to be uncomfortable around the waist.

  • Anyone have any experience with maternity scrubs? I feel like I'm board line to needing them (about 10 wks)and feel like just sizing up might not look right. Haven't told work at all yet. Wondering if previous mom's have found good solutions for scrub type of work. :)

Wondering the same thing about the maternity stuff making me look more pregnant, and at 11w still trying to keep it under wraps. When I put on the maternity pants they feel better but I feel like I've got on a neon sign that says 'ask me if I'm pregnant'. Another 2 weeks and I'll go for it, for now its all my loosest stuff

@mommaofmultiples I have found the belly band or rubberband trick with a long shirt and maybe a loose cardigan or something looks pretty ok. Or I've just been doing tucked in tank with a high waisted a-line skirt and then it looks totally normal. I haven't bought any maternity clothes yet either because I agree they show the belly too much and I don't want work to know. I also have some pants that are way too big that work, so maybe just buy a size up? @karaepp16 OMG I know with the bra. I already bought a new one but it doesn't fit either, so I have either too small or too big as options. Not loving it.

  • I just started wearing maternity clothes this week. I'm 11 weeks today. Sometimes the bloat is just too bad I can't get the regular clothes on. I'm finally getting back to my workout routine so it's helping to keep the pounds off elsewhere. I bought shorts from target and they are so comfy!!! My only issue is that they scream maternity!! They are longer then I typically wear and rolling them just looks funny. I bought a belly band too which has helped with some of my other stuff. Thankfully I'm a teacher so I'm off for summer and have fully committed to sweats and lounge pants
  • I also am going to have to figure out my scrub situation. Looks like I am going to have to buy some new ones. I think I can wear a black tshirt with scrub bottoms so that might help me stretch my work wardrobe a little.
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one that made the switch! I felt a little guilty at first but I'm so much more comfortable. What is a Bella band? FTM here and I'm new to all of this!
  • I threw away all of my maternity clothes after the birth of #3. I lost around 30lbs before BFP so my clothes are still so loose on me. I think I can wing it through the summer/fall. I may have to buy some bottoms by October/November. I became a SAHM after #3 so maybe I'll just live in my yoga pants til delivery. :)
  • ahayleyq It's something you wear over your jeans so you can unbutton them without showing your privates to the world. It's like a tube top for your belly. They have them at Target.

  • @jferrer1212 I was working as a nursing assistant in my first pregnancy and I just sized up my scrubs and was fine with that until the end.
  • Ladies I bought bra hook extenders on Amazon for around $6. They are a life saver, I refuse to buy new bras once a month!!
  • I had to buy new bras because I've gone up a cup size!

Getting a bra extender tonight!! I knew my bbs would get bigger, but my ribs? WTH. I guess whatever makes us more comfortable, go for it :)@ahayleyq Bella Bands are magic. It's just a tube that can go over jeans, dress pants, shorts, whatever you need. Just leave your pants unbuttoned and unzipped, wiggle into the band and voilà, you and LO can breathe again <3

  • I haven't bought any yet but I can't button my pants so I have been using a rubberband to close the gap.

  • My advice from 1st pregnancy, buy jeans 1 size bigger they will last you quite a while and post baby you will be sick of maternity jeans, but regular ones wont fit. I just bought a pair of clearance jeans post baby and they are my maternity jeans for now. I have at least another 5 weeks in these then my maternity jeans will fit without always sliding off.
