We will be sharing our bedroom, so we won't have a true nursery. I have no idea for colors or prints because we don't know what we're having yet (we are doing a small reveal with just parents and siblings on Sunday). Neither one of us is a big fan of pink for girls and blue for boys, so maybe turquoise with either lilac or lime accents?
We're having a girl but I'm really not a fan of pink or purple. I don't know if it's corny but DH and I have decided on a lion king theme because we were both obsessed with the movie as children and still love it. The room is beige and the colors will be dark brown, green, blue and burnt orange. It sounds more like a boy's room but girly girl is not my style. Besides, who doesn't like the lion king? Any ideas for a girly flare would be very welcome!
You could maybe do Simba and Nala when they were cubs. Having Nala in there would maybe add a little girly flare to it, like VexyMommy suggested having a lioness. I also think having the same colors, maybe just a little more pale would make it seem a little more girly. I don't know, just a thought. I really like the Lion King idea though!
We are having a little boy, grey and teal, haven't decided if we are going to do 3 teal and 1 grey walk, or reverse it. We are doing elephants, we both had elephants in our nursery as children and it's what we have wanted since we found out we were pregnant. So far all we have is a light grey crib. The rest of the furniture will probably be from family who is talking about sanding/painting it grey for us!
Having a little boy, we will be keeping it simple as far as the nursery goes. We like a dinosaur theme and colors will be navy, light blue, grey, and white
I'm addicted to Pinterest nursery ideas right now. Regardless if it's a boy or girl, I'd like all white furniture. Our 2nd bedroom has only one window, so I thought the white furniture would brighten up the room. I really love some of the travel/hot air balloon themes I've seen online, and it could work for either boy or girl. I also like fox/woodland themes with orange and navy blue. I'm really undecided at the moment, but once we know the sex it will be much easier to start planning.
I'm doing the fox theme for our nursery. I know for sure I want orange but I'm not sure about my other colors yet. Etsy has the cutest fox stuff!
I'm having a boy and we are thinking either Lion King or Finding Nemo we decided on that when we found out because I really like how all of things for the nursery just look super adorable.. But I want to start buying stuff since our apartment is finally put together... Guess it's time to decide huh?! Lol
We're having a little girl and doing a coastal theme. Lots of neutral tones, light blue, white, tan. Kind of like nautical but less boats, anchors and lighthouses, more seashells, turtles and starfish
Love all the nursery ideas! We painted the room we'll turn into the nursery gray with white trim and white board and batten! We don't know the sex yet, so we're waiting to decorate until we find out. We'll accent with additional colors once we know.
We are having a boy and decided to go for , what I'm calling, a rustic Americana feel. We painted the room a slate blue and will accent with wood and metal pieces; along with a large monogram over his crib. I started shopping at antique stores and online at Etsy to look for "reclaimed" wood items.
I've seen some awesome HP nurseries in my internet travels! I'd love to have a HP nursery, but my SO isn't the biggest fan. He doesn't dislike HP (that possibly would have been a deal breaker), but it's not something he's super into so I feel like it wouldn't be fair to have a theme that he wasn't all about.
We're having serious talks about a Doctor Who nursery That's a shared nerdy interest.
We are team green, our spare room is medium grey along the top and bottom is medium and light grey vertical stripes so I'm just going to paint the light grey stripes a light greenish-blue aqua kind of color. I'm thinking some elephants to go with the room!

You could always throw a few mermaids in there! That was our plan for a girls room! But we are having a boy so DH nixed mermaids! Lol

We have friends with this nursery design and it's awesome! They called it vintage road trip. They hung some old license plates which looked rad.
Thank you vexymommy and kehill! I will definitely incorporate the lioness/Nala idea! I like the idea of curvey instead of angular too. Definitely my kind of girly flare!

I loooove teal/turquoise. It looks lovely with yellow. I can't help but think orchid would be pretty, too. For a boy maybe navy?
We are having a boy and our 'theme' is the sky, so think stars and hot air balloons with the colours blue, yellow and grey. The walls and ceiling are white and the floor is a light wood.
The curtains and nursing chair are this material, my mum is making them
And I just ordered this crochet mobile off of Etsy but I have asked for the balloons to be yellow/white, blue/white and grey/white to match the colour of the stars in the curtains and with an elephant, giraffe and monkey.
The main light has a paper shade on it already so going to do something like this to it with the left over material from the curtains and some white material.
We have a Calvin and Hobbes theme. DH is painting the image of Calvin and Hobbes lying on a tree branch on one wall, and the other three will be white. With Hobbes being a tiger, we are doing orange and grey accents through blankets etc. I absolutely love how creative and DIY you ladies are - it makes me wish I was crafty!
@reiol how cute is that going to be!? Did you see the story about the little boy who accidently left his Hobbes at the Tampa Airport? such a cute idea. Please post a pic of the mural your hubby paints.

We don't know what we are having yet, but we are for sure doing a baby fox theme. Our last name is Fox, so I have always wanted to use that theme. I am not sure what colors we are going to use to accent with though. whatever we decide will have to go with orange, bc of the color of the fox. I really like the darker colored wood too. I think I am going to have to find most of our decor on Etsy. Not a lot of stores carry baby fox stuff.
Don't laugh too much ladies..But I love Harry Potter. And I don't want to do a "traditional" nursery. I didn't want the pastel colors. So I found some bedding that is Navy, a lighter shade of blue, yellow, green, orange, red what to me is fun boy colors. I have 4 prints picked out on Etsy that are in the same colors and they are Harry Potter themed. So we are getting those. The hubs had decided he wants to try to make 4 of the wands for me... So we will have those also. I bought an owl that has the same colors as little mans bedding and got a bird cage this weekend to he has a "hedwig" of his own. A lady who the hubs works with is making us a blanket of the 4 Houses and a carrier cover with the Hogwarts patch and colors of the 4 Houses. I have a blanket to go on the glider that is being monogrammed with his name in the HP style of letters. And that's about as far as we have gotten LOL.
I love that you are doing this!! If I wasn't set on our fox theme this was my second choice!! I ordered a custom Hogwarts quilt from Etsy even though it won't match the baby's room. I have one and it's my favorite, so I wanted to get the same one but baby size for our baby. Etsy, and Pinterest have so many awesome Harry Potter baby things!!
I attached a photo of my quilt, the baby's will be the same, but smaller and it'll have soft cuddle fabric on the back

Carter's has the cutest fox sets! I bought two 3 piece sets and a 5 pack of onesies. So far they're my favorite purchases.
We found out we are having another boy! I am a fan of a more gender neutral style. We live within walking distance to the beach so I am really excited to do a beachy themed nursery. I'm thinking surfboards, shovels, and starfish . My almost two year old will be moving in to his big boy room which is going to be a nautical feel. I Found a lot of great sailboat style things at yard sales this season.

I've been giving the Carter's fox stuff as gifts and can't get enough! Too freaking cute!
@ashfox413 I love that quilt! I have a couple of ladies that the Hubs works with that are making LO Harry Potter stuff. I've always wanted to do a HP nursery, but didn't want it too be too overwhelming. The fox theme is going to be so cute. I might have to go to Carters and get that onesie...It's a can't resist. LOL.
We got the baby the little raccoon outfit that charters has for when he comes home.. My mom and I have this thing for raccoons and we want my boy to come home in the cutest coziness outfit possible.. Specially since it will be cold!!

I bought a three piece raccoon outfit from Carter's too! I'm loving the forest animals this time. DS1 got stuck with Winnie the Pooh because that's what got sent to me while I was overseas. I'm so excited to be able to do things my way this time.

The Meijer by my house has all the crafters outfits 50% off and I have officially gotten all of the raccoon ones!!! Sale ends today so I went this morning and bought the ones I hadn't gotten yet!!! They are super cute!!
I'm the type of person who hates "themed" anything, color scheme, yes, making it look like one thing just puked all over the place? No. Idk....I'm weird and even hate Halloween and Santa-ish Christmas decorations. But to each their own Lol that being said, we are going with mostly grey, and adding small hints of teale, white and maybe a pale yellow. I won't really do anything themed until he's older when we will know what he likes. I'm sure I won't care about stuff like this at that point since it'll make him happy lol
I plan on DIY-ing a lot of things for the nursery too. Making curtains and repainting furniture. My mom is going to help me with the bedding cause I found fabric that I LOVE! Can't wait to see it all come together!
I'm a FTM and really don't know when I should start putting together his room. When did all of you experienced mommies start or have your babies rooms finished?

With my first I had a fairly intense nesting period around 7 months or so. I had so much anxiety about the room not being finished that I did as much as I could, but ended up having to wait until about the month before to finish it up due to most of the decor etc being received at my shower about 1 month before I was due.
I've manage to score some great deals on a Babyletto crib and a Hemnes dresser, both in white. A friend passed me down her white glider, and the curtain/carpet I bought are different tones of grey/white. I'll be sewing some sort of a geometric grey fabric cover for the glider, and plan to use pastel yellow as an accent colour. I'll paint the walls some sort of teal/mint.

I was wondering about this too.. My boyfriend really wants to get started but I feel like at 20 weeks it's still pretty early. Part of me wants to wait till I'm more in the mood to do it but then again I don't know how uncomfortable I'll be later on lol
