How do I get over the guilt when it was my negligence which led 7 months baby fall off my bed?

My 7 months old baby fell off the bed yesterday and she had a bump on her forehead. I cannot help but blame myself for not putting her back in her cot or surround her with more pillows while I took a minute to wash my hands. I can't help but think about the accident over and over again. I've never felt so guilty before.

  • My son climbed out of our bed at 5 months old. I felt guilty but he tries to climb off it all the time. I figure I learned from it, I will do my best to not let it happen again. Babies are going to fall, we can't keep an eye on them 24/7. She still loves her mama and most likely has forgot it even happened.

  • My son fell off the bed and hit his head at 6 months. He had a huge goose egg for a day. I was beside myself and woke him up every couple hours to make sure he was okay. I'll never get the image of him crying on the floor out of my head. He was back to his usual happy self within an hour though, just needed some extra cuddles that day. When I told the doctor the following week what happened, he didn't even bat an eye. Everyone I have mentioned it to seems to have a similar story!

  • Yes this stuff happens. It's normal to feel guilty especially when it's our job to protect them but nobody's perfect. I recently heard my baby start to cry while waking from her nap. When I opened the door to our room she was on the floor! Apparently I hadn't clicked the straps in her mamaroo together properly and she rolled right out!
