Night time sickness??

is anyone experiencing night sickness instead of morning? As soon as I settle for bed, I'm extremely nauseas. My poor husband doesn't know how to comfort me cause it gets really bad. I just lay there and gag/dry heave. Anything I eat or drink before bed triggers it especially my vitamins. But if I don't eat I have the worst starvation pains! I am so incredibly thankful and grateful to be pregnant!! But would love some tips on how to ease this cause it makes sleep very difficult :/ thanks!

Re: Night time sickness??

  • Try not to eat or drink anything but water right before bed. This happens to me too. Make sure you eat the vitamins with dinner preferably and don't lay down right away. Relax a bit after eating.

  • Thank you!!
I usually don't eat much at all and will get super hungry and sometime I won't eat at all and still get nauseas. I take my vitamin with food but it's a hassle even taking it! As soon as it hits my tongue I gag
  • My midwife says always always always keep food on your stomach. Try snacking on high-protein snacks like cheese sticks. I try and munch on granola and Greek yogurt during the day. At night time keep crackers by your bed. I get night sickness really bad and as long as I get PLENTY of protein during the day and snack, it's not bad. I also try and suck on a peppermint before I fall asleep too
  • I have a few friends who told me about trouble with iron in their prenatal vitamins: as soon as they switched to supplements without iron they felt 1000x better. Maybe something to consider...?
  • Yes, definitely make sure you take your vitamins with a full (or as full as you can handle) meal, plenty of time before laying in bed! I also keep a banana on my nightstand EVERY NIGHT. I take bites of it before I turn the lights out, and any time I wake up in the middle of the night. This has really helped me! Also I've found sparkling water, ginger ale or OJ to be more soothing to my stomach when I'm really nauseous or especially when I haven't been able to eat.
  • I find sparkling water with lemon a help and/or a warm milky drink before bed.
  • yes, i had morning sickness from about 6-10 weeks and then 10-11 weeks i was okay. and now at almost 12 weeks my morning sickness now likes to me night sickness! its frustrating because i haven't eaten dinner in days! i just sip on a lot of water and take my medicine at night now instead of morning
  • The word banana makes me nauseas
  • Ginger tea helped for me. I'm 9 weeks today and cannot come at dinner until around 8pm, so after I or hubby cook, I sip my ginger tea and eat later..
  • Oo yes. Morning , night whatever . Do not drink oj. If you really can't notvpuke or gag pick foods that you like throwing up or can throw up easily. Drink lots of water . yes it sucks cause you have to pee a lot. Banana are yummy n help a lil. But its your body . try different things out to see what helps you. We are all different. I hope it gets better for you .chin up :)
  • Night!  100%.  Mine usually starts around 4 PM so I try and eat something super protein heavy right before.  Have you noticed a time when it usually starts?  Maybe try and force yourself to eat right before.  Having an empty stomach always makes me feel soooo much worse.
  • It starts right at bed time! I ate dinner right before bed and I've waited to go to bed after I ate so I wasnt sleeping with a full tummy. Either way I get nauseas!! I can't smell a banana without having gagging so that won't help me :( I'll have to get some ginger tea and see if that works!

My Dr. prescribed Zofran for nausea which has been very helpful. If its unbearable, you could try it! Hope you feel better!

I luckily haven't actually got sick, but I've only been nauseous in the evening/night time. I'd rather it be this way as I have to get my oldest going for school in the morning and I have 3 under 3 all day :) saltine crackers really do help me feel better and laying completely flat! Hoping this passes for you!!
  • At around 7-8 weeks, I would feel on and off sickness in the middle
Of the night. (when I would wake up to pee which is usually 2-3x a night, unfortunately!) I would make sure I had a snack right before bed or would eat only half of my dinner at dinnertime & the other half before heading to bed. I kept water & pretzels, trail mix or crackers on my night stand & grabbed a few pieces to snack on every time I woke up. I also always take my prenatal vitamin after I eat breakfast in the morning. I feel like if I took it at night while I was going through those nausous waves, I probably would've felt 10x worse! I'm 11 weeks now & and now just super tired with occasional headaches. Stay strong, it will pass! Good luck! :-)
  • Mine always starts around 4pm - and I dry heave and gag.. It's awful! Nothing has helped me so far, and I try not to drink liquids past 6pm so I'm not up all night peeing!
  • I had to switch to gummy prenatal vitamins! They make a huge a difference!
