Subchorionic hematoma

edited June 2015 in 2nd Trimester
I had a little bleeding after sex on Saturday , then Monday I woke up in quite a bit of pain so I called my dr. They had me come in and gave me rhogam because I'm rh negative. The results of the sono are a small Subchorionic hematoma. I'm not supposed to lift anything over ten lbs. I wasn't too worried until I googled it. The doctor isn't overly worried so I shouldn't be either, but I can't help it, my risk factor has just gone up. Anyone else experience this ? Maybe some positive stories with the same circumstances will help.

Re: Subchorionic hematoma

  • They are very common and typically resolve on their own. If your doctor gave you instructions to take it easy, then take it easy. As far as worrying about it, that is up to you, no one controls that. Just know that SCH is very common and usually resolves on its own.

  • I have been reading up on it because I had heavy bleeding and although it wasn't seen on the ULtrasound, my doctor suspects SCH. I read tons of threads where baby was just fine even after large SCH. Google "SCH but baby is ok". You will find plenty of positive outcomes :)
  • I had it during my first trimester. It was gone by the time I reached the second trimester. It usually goes away by itself. Just don't do tiring activities, just to be safe.

    Hope it goes away soon!
  • I also had one in my first trimester, and it was gone by the beginning of my second trimester. They're so scary and it's so easy to worry, but just know that if your dr isn't worried, you should be fine. Just follow what they suggest and try not to Google too much (Google will drive you nuts).

Hope everything clears up for you soon!
  • Mine is mostly resolved after 5 weeks. All is well now. Just stay calm and know that pelvic rest also means no self stimulation.
  • I had one at 5 weeks and it went away at 10 weeks! My little gummi bear absorbed it
