I have an older dr. office one from my dad who was an OB so I'm no help with brands, but here are a few tips: -Watch some YouTube videos to see where you should start looking (it's probably lower than you thought) -make sure you are listening to the baby's heartbeat, not yours. It's much faster -it may take awhile to find, be patient -please don't freak out if you can't find the heartbeat. Unless you are having true miscarriage signs, give it a break and try again later. It's hard to consistently find it in the early weeks

Use the search function and you'll find a ton of posts about this. I find that Amazon is not a help. I used fetaldoppler.net and bought mine for $42 with free shipping. I have sonaline A, although most recommend sonaline B. Both of these models are 3mhz, not 2, so they are more sensitive to picking up the heartbeat.

A lot of ladies have been talking about this recently, so you may be able to find more info in searches. I used an Amazon find, Womb Music
