Spotting/Aching on left/right sides of abdomen?

Hello, this is my first time being pregnant and I've been on a roller coaster of emotions! I got an early BFP due to a triphasic pattern 10 dpo. So I knew I was pregnant four days before my missed period. I had minor cramping so scheduled an emergency appt the day before my period was due and had blood work. HCG 361 / Progesterone 147 at 4wks. After 2 days and two blood test, hormones doubled everything looked good so they scheduled me in for a scan the same week which showed signs of intrauterine pregnancy but not sac because it was too early. The evening after my scan I started spotting (4wks, 4 days) and it's been consistent brown/pink/red at any given time I go to the bathroom. After 4 days of spotting I emailed my NHS midwife and she said that its normal during the 1st trimester to spot for 2-4 weeks! My next scan isn't until 24th June and everywhere I read online says it's consistent with signs of threatened miscarriage. The cramps stopped when the spotting began but now I have light pains on either side of my ovaries. Needless to say I'm sitting in an expensive private women's clinic in London because I cannot bear it any longer and need to know what's going on in my uterus! Any one else experience this? xx

  • So I think its fairly normal, I'm having similar issues as well. I think you are doing the right thing by being seen just to give you some peace of mind. ultimately its a waiting game but my fingers are crossed for you. Godo Luck!

  • Thanks @rs07151996! Had an u/s and got to hear and see the heartbeat! It blew my mind to say the least. You're right, the pains are normal per doctor and she couldn't find any abnormal reasons for the spotting. Dated 6w 5d based on the size of my little pumpkin which is surprising because I thought I was 3 days earlier! I'm going to sit and enjoy the ride for now
  • Spotting and cramping are normal as long as the spotting is not bright red.  My last pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. The spotting started as brown discharge and the next day it was full blown bleeding worse than a period.  The cramping started after the bleeding was strong. If you get both bleeding and cramping at the same time and the cramping is very strong, that would be reason to see your Dr.  FX it doesn't continue.  Congrats on seeing the HB! I can't wait to get to that point.

Good to hear these positive stories! I'm 6 w 3d and I've been spotting for about 12 hours straight. I'm so nervous especially since I've had 2 previous mc in the past 6mo. DH & I just want a sticky baby!
