Boy Names

My DH and I have been arguing over the name, he seems to think that the nickname for Deklan would be Di&@.. I'm not determining my child's name off of what people may call him. My name is Nikole and people don't call me any thing else other then my name. Am I being unreasonable?

Thanks so much ladies

Re: Boy Names

  • I would have voted Harrison Ford if that was available, but alas I chose Jackson. Deklan and Jase are not my personal style, and I dislike unusual spellings since I have one and have struggled with it my entire life.

  • I love the name Jase! But my cousin got to it before us. Ha!

Thank you for your input.. Lol Harrison Ford is quite the eye candy for an older man .. My hubby would lose his shit if I named him that.
  • Love the name jase but DHs name is Jason. Too close. I also really like Deklan and definitely do not think that correlates to dick as a nickname.
  • I don't think people would call him D.ck if you named him Deklan! I know a couple boys by that name and never heard it come up once :)

You will know his perfect name by the time he's born! I voted for Deklan but I think they are all great!
  • I just love the name Jackson & the nickname Jax They are all cute though
  • I chose Jackson even though I think it will be way to popular BC of SOA. Don't like Jase BC of negative associations with Teen Mom. I've never understood Deklan, esp with a funky spelling.
  • Not trying to be a jerk, but are you misspelling Declan intentionally because you like it better that way or did you see someone else do it and not know it's incorrect? Spell a name however you want to, no flames here, but just wanted to make sure you knew that Deklan is not the way that name is spelled.

Yes I changed it to a "k", I have seen others spell it the same way. I know it's of Irish decent and not the way they intended it to be spelt but that isn't why I chose it, I just like the uniqueness of it.

Ok, makes sense then! Good luck choosing- it's so tough when you narrow it down to a few you like!

Dag on it.. I wrote a lot more not sure what happen to it. I wanted to be a little traditional but not too much. His father's middle name is Ford so I figured I could give a nod to both.

  • They all sound like car dealerships to me. Lol. They're NMS, but I guess I'd have to go with Jackson. Be prepared for him to have a ton of other Jacksons in his class if you choose that. It's a really popular name now.

  • I love the name Declan or Deklan... There was a character on a show with this name and they called him Dec/dek when they shortened his name. My son is Jackson James, we call him Jack, named after my dad. I know it's popular, but he is still the only Jackson when we go to parties and what not. It may bother me if I didn't love that he was named after my dad...my dad is the best and it makes him so proud :)
