Bouncing on birth ball

Anyone else had any luck with bouncing on a birth ball? Im 38 weeks tomorrow and i have been cramping on and off for 2 weeks now. Today they got relatively worse but nothing more than period cramps and i have a tonne of pressure in my pelvis, almost like the pants i was wearing shrunk 4 dress sizes, it was that uncomfortable. So im bouncing on my birthing ball to try and hurry things along as im booked in for an induction on the 6th of july and want to avoid that as much as possible

Oh! I started this last night and will continue to do it until Labor starts. I am 38 weeks tomorrow too :-)

  • I've been using the ball to get baby out of breech and loosen up my hips for the last 10 weeks. Baby is still snuggled up in there, no dilation, no effacement, no softening (but I am only 35 weeks, so that is perfectly fine with me...he can stay in as long as he wants).

  • I loved my yoga ball. It was great for all that pelvic discomfort. I don't know about helping to start labor though. I was a week overdue.
  • I've been trying too! I'm 37w4d. I'm hoping it will help move things along. Last week I was 2cm, 80% and baby had definitely dropped...since I started using the ball every night, I do feel increased pressure, constant cramps and more contractions. Let's hope it's doing something!!

Is your baby still breech? I went to the chiropractor...after 1 treatment he flipped!

  • The birth ball may not start anything but it certainly helps alleviate discomfort and helps baby get in optimal position.  Best wishes in these last few days/weeks and that you LO comes without the induction!

  • I love my ball :) I use it when I do my breathing exercises and when I just want to relax :) hopefully our little one is ready! Because we are! :D

anyone have any links that show different ways to use the birth ball in early labor/late pregnancy? I just sit on it and stretch my hips but if there is a formal method, I'm down.

My OB doesn't think so. I had my weekly appointment yesterday and based on his where his heartbeat was and what she could feel she thinks he is head down now. I'm being sent for an ultrasound at 37 weeks to see for sure (she doesn't have one in office) and they'll check me again when I go into labor at the hospital. My insurance won't cover a chiropractor so that's a last resort if he hasn't flipped by 37 weeks.

  • I havnt been bouncing on my ball but use it to help with the pressure. My balls now a pretty common piece in our kitchen as I totally use it when doing dishes and cooking haha..I am 38wks today no contractions or dilation yet but he has dropped. I'm getting impatient so might start bouncing to see if it helps lol

I am a FTM & 35 weeks. I am sitting on my excercise ball often since reading it was one of 7 exercises to help prepare for labor. It good because it pushes your hips back & belly out, helping baby to set away from your spine...versus sitting on the couch or cushy recliner all the time with hips forward & weight of baby resting against your back.
  • I've been bouncing on mine and rocking! I think it's helping but we'll see tomorrow when I go to the dr! I've been walking a lot as well so hopefully the combination will help something happen before I'm induced!
