Pack and play vs crib

So we are moving to another state in about a month and currently have Graco PNP. We are only planning on living in the new place for about 11 months. When I consulted with a BBB employee, he highly recommended we purchase a crib and that a PNP was only meant for occasional use as babies need to sleep on a firm mattress. Since our housing in the next year is transitional, I was hoping to just use a PNP during this time until our jobs find us in a more permanent location.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I use a PNP with a bassinet attached

I use a pack n play and the bassinet part. Still not ready for the crib yet! We used to have him sleep in the rock n play but I had too much anxiety with SIDS. Do what is comfortable for you!

We use a breeze with bassinet insert now for sleep in our room.

What about a mini crib? Some come with a thin mattress.

My kids didn't like sleeping in the pack n play as they got older, it moves quite a bit when they move. Though my kids were used to sleeping in a bed or crib, we used the pack n play for travel.

Thanks everyone for your input. So the reason for my concern as the BBB employee made it sound like a crib mattress was better for the babies back or something. We definitely will go ahead and invest in a crib if necessary before she turns 1 but if it isn't ...then we are more than happy with our PNP with bassinet attachment.

Has anyone else heard or know if a crib is better than a PNP? Regarding baby health, spine, etc?
