Subchorionic bleeding

My dr just called and said they found this in my ultrasound that I had on Monday. Basically part of my placenta detached from my uterus which caused bleeding. I have to go in for another scan in a couple of weeks to check on it. Also, no exercise, no walking, no sex. I'm still fine to "take care of my family" so not so far to be on bed rest.

I'm not loving what I see on the Internet (I should have never googled it).

Any of you have any experience/knowledge with this????

Hi @sherks11 I had some subchoronic bleeding at 6 weeks. Everything has resolved now and I'm nearly 12 weeks. Try not to panic or Google anything (I know it's hard) as these are quite common. My doctor explained it as being similar to bruising - you may have bleeding or it may resolve itself naturally and reabsorb. Just take care of yourself and get plenty of rest.

  • Thank you, this makes me feel so much better!!!
  • I had one with both pregnancies. Both resolved. My Doctor said it was just from the implantation of the bleed. I was on rest, pelvic rest, no lifting and it resolved by 2nd trimester with both. The bleed shouldn't be near the baby and shouldn't cause any trouble . My just reabsorbed . Good luck! Don't worry.
  • Thanks @ainverso!! I'm not technically on bed rest but I am really worried about the lifting part with a 14 mo.

Glad to hear this isn't as terrible news as I thought!
  • I wasn't on bed rest, just don't lift and be careful. I have a 15 month old this time and I picked him up if he needed me. Tried to do it from sitting or sit and hold him rather than carry him long term.
  • I had one with my first and it was never an issue. I was on pelvic rest as well. It cleared use on its own by 16 weeks! My doctor told me that 60-70% of women get them. I never really worried!
  • Thanks ladies!! I called the doc this morning to get a few more questions answered and I feel better about it. I asked a little bit more about what type of activities are ok and the nurse told me vacuuming was out... Seems like a weird activity to say is too strenuous!
  • I just experienced this the other day. I didn't know I had a bleed wasn't caught on first ultrasound a month ago and two days ago I start bleeding heavily! My first though was that I was having a miscarriage I've had one before so I started preparing myself for the disappointment. My doctor made me come to their office instead of going to ER I started bleeding early that morning and my appointment was late afternoon! We did an ultra sound and baby was doing perfect heart beat was perfect my little minion was perfect! They did see that I had a small bleed and that it had to bleed out! Today two days later I'm am done bleeding! It's easy to stress over these things so don't worry yourself! At least they were able to find yours on US!!! Praying for you!
  • I've been on restrictions/pelvic rest since 6 weeks. I am currently 11 weeks. I had a miscarriage in march then found out I was pregnant again a few weeks later. Started bleeding again and of course was devastated. Called my doctor and they had me go in for an emergency ultrasound. Found out I had a very large bleed. Placenta started to tear away from the uterus. The bleed was so bad that the babies sac looked deformed from all the pressure. Went back a couple weeks later and the sacred looked great and baby was still doing great. We go back in about a week for another checkup. I haven't had any bleeding since the first day. I'm confident it will be cleared up. The no sex part was the most devastating for me! Haha but neither one of us want to take any chances of losing another baby. Good luck to you but try not to stress.
Oh and we do have an older daughter she is too sweet and won't let me lift her out of our truck anymore cause she doesn't want to hurt the baby :)
  • I had one at week 5, and it was cleared by week 9. Everything I read on the Internet was all positive - that it resolved on it's own, as mine did. The hardest thing was pelvic rest!! Praying things go well for you!!

  • Hope it resolves for you. I see you have a 14 mo. Were you part of the May14 group?
  • Thanks ladies, I think hearing that I was restricted to pelvic rest and even from daily activity really freaked me out! And of course the no sex thing wasn't a problem until I was told NOT to! Ugh... My 14 mo is still incredibly needy so it's been hard not to pick her up all the time but luckily DH had been awesome. @apinkpelican i was a part of the April 14 group! I go back to the doc on July 13th to check in on this. I haven't had any bleeding at all so hopefully all goes well and I'm cleared! Glad everything has cleared up for you ladies!!
  • @sherks11 that makes sense... My LO is 13 months. I didn't recognize you but thought maybe you had a new name or something after the giant Exitous (sp)
  • At least you ladies know where the bleeding is coming from. There was no sign of SCH on my u/s. Pelvic exam clearly determined it was coming from inside my uterus. NP thought maybe I had an SCH and it had just resolved, meaning the bleeding would stop soon. That was Monday. I was spotting for 3 weeks before that and have had light bleeding for the last week. It doesn't let up and is bright red with marble/pea/pop-rocks sized clots but hasn't increased a huge amount like they prepare you for. I'm drained. At least you have answers.
  • @Lizzie5831 I really hope you get your answers soon and you and your baby are healthy!!!!
