anyone else have a hard time breathing. It's so bad all the time. I'm only 23 weeks so I know it will get worse but I can't find any relief. And the heartburn, oh my goodness it's awful!!
I just brought this up at my last appointment. I get nightly SOB that makes me feel almost panicky.
My OB told me that my heartburn was actually exacerbating my shortness of breath. Her advice was to get the acid under control: sleep with some elevation, so that my esophagus isn't pooling acid while I sleep, and start taking Pepcid twice a day, instead of Tums as needed. She also recommended liquid heartburn relief for breakthrough heartburn.
I was literally just coming on here to search this! I have been pacing around because it seems like every position is worse than the last and I can't get comfortable
Blow drying my hair makes me short of breath...so does coming up the stairs or really any other menial task. I've never had heartburn. Any time I feel short of breath I take a big gulp do air through my mouth and breathe slowly through my nose. It helps!
I am so with you. I"m 24 weeks and not that big but between the acid reflux and the shortness of breath I feel like doing anything is impossible. I asked my doctor about the acid reflux and she told me to take liquid maloxx but it really only help for like 15 minutes. I tried sleeping elevated, limiting my intake, changing my diet.. nothing helps. I have is all day (so the sleeping trick doesn't help since I have it at noon).
As for the breathing, I'm out of breathing walking from the car to my office. No one at work knows yet so I think everyone things I've completely let myself go. Heck, I get out of breath if I talk to much. The breathing through the nose slowly helps but that is pretty much as long as I"m not exerting myself.
I really feel like pregnancy is not my thing. I can't wait till she's born and I can breath again and go days without a fire in my throat.
I've had trouble breathing since I was about 20 weeks. I'm 24 weeks now. It's gotten worse & I'm sure it'll continue to get worse throughout the remainder of my pregnancy. I'm only 5ft, so they keep telling me it's normal because I'm so short. I had the same issue with my son. I'm guessing since I'm older & heavier now, it's much worse. Laying on my side helps.
Unfortunately this is been a symptom of mine since early one. Do you have anxiety normally? Because that can definitely be part of it. Try sleeping with a ton of pillows to prop yourself up with
Me too!!! No reflux but I havnt been able to breathe very well for about a month (20 weeks now). It doesn't help that I am fighting some flu/cold and I can't breathe out of my nose! Anytime I come up the stairs my husband asks "are you alright?" Because I physically sound like I am going to pass out!!!! Hoping I can make it through the rest of this pregnancy without sounding like I need a respirator!
Yes. I have such a hard time sleeping because it's hard to breath. As a PP said, it makes me almost panicky which makes things worse I think. Going to try sleeping with more of an incline. It's bad even during the day. If I stand up at my desk to work it helps. So much for the magical second trimester. It was more like a magical few weeks.
After walking up a flight of stairs or if I talk for too much I am out of breath! It's crazy! I'll be 23 weeks tomorrow, not over weight or anything, I've only gained 8 lbs so far but I feel like a fat kid in gym class who just had to run! I'm sure it's just going to get worse as the weeks go on!
YES! I'm not even that big yet but I definitely notice the shortness of breath! I used to be able to run up the stairs without a blink of an eye, now I need a few seconds to catch my breath when I get to the top.
Heartburn hasn't been too bad for me yet but I love reading everyone's suggestions so I'm prepared if it does happen!
I told my OB about this on Friday at my check up. She said yep it's just pregnancy and the baby pushing up, but then when she checked my blood, and told me I am anemic, she said that could be causing some of it too. I have been on iron pills since and feeling much less short of breath. I've had zero heartburn this time, which is amazing!
So glad I found this thread! 21w4d now, been SOB since 20weeks.Was sitting at my desk five days ago and suddenly couldn't breathe, hyperventilated and almost passed out!Had to lie down on my side for a spell. And some days the slightest activity(like making dinner) makes me so tired,It feels like I've been hiking all day.Maybe I do need an iron supplement in addition to prenatals...the 2nd trim energy burst sure isn't happening these days

So far, it's helping a bit
