Shaving probs....

Sooooo has anyone else been finding it difficult to keep your lady bits groomed?  For me it is still pretty easy to shave my legs, as I am keeping myself pretty flexible.  But for the lady bits.... not so much.  I am finding that I can barely see and have to hold my breath in order to reach down there.  I feel like it is too early for this and still want to keep my sex life going lol

Any suggestions?  I think waxing is too expensive and I've never done it before so I am unsure about it.

Thanks!

  • I'm having the same issue so I just slowly and carefully "blind' shave. I tell my fiancé that it's too bad if I miss any spots and he can live with it unless he wants to help.

I've heard of people using a mirror to help but I don't think that'd help me.

My mom told me when I get to the point that I can't shave my legs anymore then she'll pay for a wax for me. I'll pay for my own waxing of my lady bits.

I've had waxing done before on both legs and lady bits. It's uncomfortable but not that painful. Of course, I wasn't pregnant with extra blood flow in the areas. Lol.
  • lol I could ask the hubby for help, but we have completely opposite schedules and I've thought about the what-ifs.  Like what if he cuts me? (youch!) what if he starts to think its all weird down there (seeing it in a different light, different way, etc)? Or what if he starts to get all 'fresh' with me while I am trying to get a serious task accomplished?  Well.... the last one wont be so bad, and I should probably expect it as my husband has the hormonal sex drive of a 16 year old boy lol! :)

  • I second the mirror my bathroom mirror is across from my shower so I have been showering with the shower door open getting water everywhere then cleaning it to keep up with my jungle down there .
  • I just do a blind shave.  It'll come second nature after awhile.  I've always been a little overweight and haven't been able to see "down there" for a few years!  I've never cut my self.  Hubby doesn't care if it's perfect or not!  I've seen other people suggest the creams but I don't like those.  I guess if you go for a wax I would take some tylenol ahead of time to help with pain with the extra blood flow.

Loveeee waxing here, haha!  I recommend finding a salon that uses "hard wax" as it is better for sensitive areas and believe me, the hoo ha is getting more and more sensitive!  It can be pricey depending on where you can.  I use a salon called Uni K Wax in NYC (I think they are only NYC and surrounding areas though) and they are about $30...which isn't bad!  I used to go to a fancy spa place and paid well over $60 for hard wax.

Edited to add: waxing def does not tickle but I swear by the hard wax!

  • I've been dreading the "can't see my vagina anymore" moment so I started going to a spa to get sugared. It's awesome and I highly recommend it. Basically it's similar to waxing but made from all natural products and causes less skin irritation. First time I had it done I swear only one hair for every 5 yanked out grew back! And it's much thinner too!! I only have to go every 4-6 weeks and at $45 a pop it's well worth skipping the agony of trying to shave downtown ;)
  • I got waxed once before when I wasn't pregnant and it HURT SO BAD! I am Mexican and have thick hair...I was bleeding at the end! I am so terrified to wax while pregnant cause I am so sensitive to pain lately. Is this hard wax a lot different or do you think if I'm that much of a wimp I should probably stay away? I can see still my vagina but I can tell that it's not for very much longer!
  • I stand in front of the sink in my bathroom before I shower. I just stand on a towel so all the hair isn't all over the floor! Lol. I'm 6 mo now so I haven't seen my va jay jay in monthssss.
  • I am sooo glad someone started this thread. I can't see anything down there!! I have been blind shaving but it is a pain and I'm definitely thinking of moving to waxing.

I do it blindly, when I do it at all.
  • I started waxing legs and bikini during my pregnancy since my hair grows so quickly now! I am really impressed with the European wax center- they are all over th US and it doesn't hurt! I was amazed- years ago I tried waxing and it hurt so much...

The hard wax is similar to sugaring mentioned by a previous poster. It is all natural and better for sensitive skin. I do not have thick/course hair down there but I have ultra super duper sensitive skin. The hard wax still stings a little but it is much faster and better for you than regular wax with the strips. That is my experience with it.

  • I get waxed I thought would hurt more but really doesn't, I get waxed every 6 weeks now so it's not that expensive I've been doing it for a while so hair doesn't grow back as fast. I can shave my legs still but it's getting up off the ground of the shower after shaving that's hard.
  • I second the European wax center. Reasonably priced and hurts less and less as you keep it up. I get a full bikini and eye brows every four weeks in the spring and summer. I take a break from waxing in the winter to save money though.
  • Believe it or not, this may sound crazy but my DH does it for me. Yah. Serious love. He even shaves my legs. Love or spoiled??
  • I get waxed now too. I'm not sure I would recommend someone to start though. The first couple of times hurt like hell (I've been doing it for over 10 years). I use a combination of hard and soft wax, I find hard wax to be too painful in certain areas.

And yes I can't see anything! When I'm in a bathing suit I always tell me husband to watch out for me because I have no visual!
  • I have never tried Nair either but that is interesting and I might have to try it!!

  • Has anyone tried any at home waxing kits??  I tried the Nair for bikini area this morning and it didn't work at all. :-/  Thinking about waxing at home.  Is this a terrible idea?

  • I wish I could do waxing like you guys. My skin is very very sensitive and I am also very very hairy (as in!!). So it's a no go for me. :(
And shaving, ugh, can't see, can't reach and hubby's scared of shaving it for me (he fears he would hurt me for he believes his hands were made for destruction LOL).
Good thing he doesn't mind the jungle down there. Bad thing is I wanna remove every single hair strand so badly.
  • I cannot see at all ! It's like shaving with my eyes closed ... I told my husband not to judge my hack job lol

I would just go to a professional place if you want to try waxing.  It will be just as hard as shaving (not be able to see/get everything) and they will be much quicker.

  • If you are just going for the bikini wax and not a full Brazilian, I still do that myself. I use the Sally Hanson all over body wax kit (don't get the pre waxed strips, they are useless) and do it standing up in front of a mirror, these days. I use a general trimmer for the rest (blindly). I wouldn't recommend trying to give yourself a Brazilian, your hand flinches at the pain you are inflicting on yourself (mostly the "landing strip" section.. It's the worst!) and it just isn't as efficient as if you were in a salon. It is worth it to pay someone else for that!
  • I just do a trim with some clippers. I haven't had a close shave since finding out I was pregnant. However, I was told I will be getting lazer hair removal after the birth of our daughter. :D

Tried it a few years ago, best advice don't hesitate, just rip the Wax off. My mistake was hesitating because I was scared to rip the wax off then it hurt then I had a fit n cried. Lol
