Just wondering if there were any other teachers (besides myself) in the group! I teach 8th grade learning support. Tomorrow is my last day and I cannot wait to be done. When are you done? Any plans for the summer?! What do you teach?
Yup! I teach high school. I've been done for about 3 weeks now. It's nice, but I have to go back the first week of August. I am thankful I am on break right now, though, since I can barely make it through a day without an afternoon nap! By the time kids see me in mid-August, I'll be in my second trimester, so I will feel comfortable telling them. I am nervous about being on leave in the middle of the year. So much planning.
I'm sorta kinda a teacher. I work at a virtual hybrid school as an educational assistant (i cringe using that term). I have my masters in educational technology, but I don't technically have a teaching license, so I can't teach a curriculum. They have me teaching orientation, cuz we have new kids every week, and I do attendance for the entire middle school (it's more complicated than it sounds cuz we're also a virtual school). But whatever. I hate it there. I'm just sticking around to get my teaching license for now.
Eta: I have my bachelor's in geology and I'll be licensed for K-12 math and science.
I used to be. Some days I miss it because it's summer vacation, and I wish I could nap during the day! But I also don't miss not being able to go to the bathroom when needed!

You are definitely a teacher in my eyes!! Good luck getting your cert
I am! Today was my first day off- totally awesome. I teach middle school. Summer plans include swimming with my 14 month old and enjoying being home during the day!
I am! I teach kindergarten and first grade:) this summer I'm enjoying gardening and getting outside for tennis and golf...and now just reading and prepping all I can for this little nugget!
Last year I taught STEM K-5 but next year I will be going back to 4th grade. Our last day was June 5th. We have lots of little things to do this summer. I hope I'm not feeling too nauseous. I'm pretty sure my principal will freak out when I come back in August and tell her I'm pregnant.
I'm a speech therapist in a school. I'm off until July, when I'm just working two days per week for ESY...then off again in August. Looking forward to have much of the first trimester without running all over a school and holding therapy sessions!
Mom to Benjamin 6/2011 and Lena 5/2013; baby 3 on the way
I am an elementary art teacher and teach K-5, summer started a week ago, still hasn't sunk in yet! The one thing I will miss about it this summer is that work makes my days/weeks go by soooo fast and now I will have a lot of free time to think about baby so time will drag all summer! Hoping for my rainbow baby. I also can't wait to tell the staff when I return!
Me! I teach Sign Language and will be teaching an online course this summer and that starts next week! I've been done with the school year since the last week of May.
Community college English instructor here. . . (I3th grade lol) We are in week 2 of Summer 1. I had planned to take Summer 2 off, but I'm pretty sure that if they offer me a class for Summer 2, I'll take it. If I do, I'll have one week betweeen the end of summer classes and Fall.

I'm also a therapist! I work in a therapeutic day school for children with ASD. I'm a music therapist. I'm off for two weeks and then half days in a 6 week ESY session. Love my job!!
I'm a school psychologist at an elementary school. I am enjoying a 5 week break then I will be assisting with Pre-K evaluation through August. I feel like I will be planning a lot for baby over these next 5 weeks.
I'm an elementary music teacher. This is my second week off. So far, this is my third time to have a first trimester during the summer lol! I like it because I can feel crappy at home!
I'm a school psychologist at a high school. I have 2.5 more days to get in by the end of the month and have zero motivation. I think I'll just do half days so I can go home and take a lovely afternoon nap.
I will be trying to de-wallpaper parts of our new home over the summer because I'm sure I won't want to do anything with it once school starts again in the fall.
I am a 5-12 Band Teacher. I agree with loving the fact that I can be home while I feel yucky! Did a band camp with my kids last week and it was a killer! Glad to be home!
I am a third grade teacher! I am so happy we are on summer vacation for the first trimester! I have a couple of trainings within the next few days then I'm teaching summer school for the extra cash....I think we may need it now
I'm a high school teacher! We go right to the 30th so it's not the home stretch quite yet. I'm looking forward to having the summer to prep for next year and baby, but not so much looking forward to teaching at 9 months pregnant come jan/feb!
I'm a teacher in Sydney Australia. I am doing supply teaching in primary and high school. I am also trying to start own curriculum writing and instructional design business.
Oh and it is the middle of winter here. Not looking forward to summer in the last weeks of pregnancy. The only good thing about that is that I get to float around like a big whale in the surf at 9 mths pregnant
Got one right here! I teach non-mobile non-verbal special education! I'm also moving to a new school this year and becoming their new cheer coach. We've been out since May 20th, but the new school doesn't have to go back on August 5th. My summer is filled with cheer practices, sped meetings, and trying to stay out of this Mississippi summer humidity and heat!
I'm a school psychologist. We have been done about a week and go back the last week in August. My hubby and I just bought our first home, we move next weekend so that will keep us busy. Also my goal is to finish my thesis this summer. We have my 13 year old stepdaughter the second half of summer so looking forward to spending more time with her. It's going to be a busy summer! Plus planning for baby and helping my grandma a lot.
High school biology teacher here! I'm a FTM so I didn't really know how to try to "plan" a pregnancy to best fit into the school year. I think being pregnant the entire year is going to be hard, and leaving the kiddos in Feb is going to be hard, but I am SO GLAD to be off right now while nausea and fatigue set in! I don't know what I would do if I had to stand in front of the class and lecture today.

Agreed!! Our original plan was to wait and try to conceive later this summer, so I'd be due in May and not have to take much leave, but I'm really glad for the way things worked out now. I could not imagine being on my feet all day, going hours without bathroom breaks, being up at 5 am....it's so nice to have this time off to relax. Planning for a sub in February and March will be a pain, though.

This is my THIRD time with this same sort of timing! I have had babies in January, then December and now February. I think this one might be the best timing! Just think: You get at least a little Thanksgiving holiday (I get a whole week but I know that's rare), then you get 2 weeks for Christmas. So you will have some rest right at the end! And once you go back to work, you will only go back for like a month and then it's maternity leave 2.0 in the summer!
I feel like the worst timing is people who have end of August babies because they miss the beginning of the school year, then have to power through the entire rest of the year with a tiny baby at home.
