3rd Trimester

Barely showing

is it normal to be 25 weeks+ and very slightly showing? I'm having a boy and most people I've spoken to have said the bumps are bigger with a boy? Worrying me to the extent I feel it's a phantom pregnancy or something. I do feel movement, it just doesn't feel 100% real as I'm not showing, is anyone else as far on and barely showing?

Re: Barely showing

  • The sex of your baby has no bearing on the size of your bump. How and when you will show depenind on the position of your baby and your own body type. I didn't show until nearly 26 weeks and I am having a boy. Now at 36 weeks I am roughly the same size as my SIL who is 24 weeks. Also, FTMs typically show later than women who have been pregnant before.

Thank you, I thought I was over reacting but better to be safe than sorry! I will feel a bit more at ease now though!:)
  • i didnt show with DS1 until about 24 weeks and i had a flat stomach thats the only reason why i noticed but with this one i was showing already by 17 weeks so theres nothing to worry about every pregnancy is different
  • It took me quite awhile to show and I was getting all disappointed since it was my first. People would hear I was 25 weeks and say "oh you're so small"...not what I wanted to hear. Then at some point I just popped and at 37 weeks, my maternity clothes barely fit. I'd have to size up if I didn't have less than 3 weeks left lol. Don't worry, it'll happen.
  • Yeah I think it's completely normal! I also didn't show until around 26 weeks and one girl even asked if I was still pregnant :-w I was pissed! it will happen though. I'm 37 wks now and seems like I got big in a week or so. you'll be fine!
  • Just because you're not showing on the outside, doesn't mean the baby is not measuring how he should on the inside
  • I am 36 weeks and swear to you I only started looking pregnant 3 weeks ago, then suddenly, he popped out. FTM, with a boy. I was worried too, but his growth has measured normal at each midwife appointment and he is very active. I was so stressed about looking chubby not pregnant and when he popped out, I was very happy to have people actually notice that I'm carrying! The good part is, so far, no stretch marks.
  • Don't you hate when people comment on your size?!? It drives me insane! I'm 5'2 and have a small frame, I barely looked pregnant with my first son. I got comments almost daily, "you don't look pregnant", "wow you're so small", "are you eating enough". My baby was healthy and happy and I just wanted to scream at them to mind their own business.

But even with my second pregnancy I am much bigger but I still get comments! "You're so small!" Since it's my second time around I feel more comfortable telling people I'm perfectly normal and healthy for my body and my baby.

Oh and if you think people commenting on you is bad... Just wait till they comment on your child! People can be very rude. Don't be afraid to speak your mind (politely).
