Skin tags!!

has anyone developed any skin tags especially down there? If so have you gotten them removed while pregnant????

Re: Skin tags!!

  • I have one that just appeared about an inch under my 11 year old c section scar. I will be contacting my doctor about getting it removed it is making me crazy.

  • I didn't have any with DD, but I have one on my chest that just appeared over the last couple months. Ugh! I will be interested to hear if anyone has had them removed during pregnancy.

I'm *pretty* sure (possibly dependent on the process they use to remove the tag) you can safely have them removed during pregnancy. Apparently, they're pretty common to pop up during pregnancy, even if you never had any prior...I'd  probably be inclined to wait until after delivery so I wouldn't have to keep having them removed. Unless they're making you self-conscious or are getting caught on clothing (and thus painful) they're harmless. ...Yay pregnancy? haha

I had one come up right next to my armpit. It was so tiny but stuck out a ways so anytime I moved my arm it rubbed and started to hurt. Mine ended up coming off, granted I was pulling at it while cursing it cause it hurt, and the thing just fell off. Weird. But it hasn't come back.
  • I have one close to my nipple. And part of me just wants to cut it off its in such an odd place.

My esthetician told me she had a bunch pop up during pregnancy in her armpits but that they went away a few months after delivery. So.....maybe wait to have them removed and see if they'll come off naturally?
  • I got one removed that was rubbing right where my bra was, so it was like half dying it was gross. I got it removed...but my dr (just went to my GP) didn't give me anythign for the pain (they usually do!) since I'm pregnant and OMG it hurt so bad. So if it isn't bothering anything, WAIT

Just a heads-up, if it's on your armpit, like the are of the armpit(s) that you shave, it could be due to deodorant. I used to get them on occasion there until I read that shaving without removing all of the deodorant from the area first can cause skin tags to develop. I don't remember the science/reasoning behind it, but once I read that and started ensuring all deodorant was washed off first, I haven't had a single one pop up there! Given that y'all are pregnant, that alone could very well be the cause, but it's something to keep in mind!  :D

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • I'm pretty sure there are natural remedies to help get rid of them (haven't tried any myself) but I would always try an at home thing that's safe during pregnancy then jump right to a physician removing it.
  • I had one on my areola.. I actually accidentally pulled it off when I was looking at it. It wasn't painful, but it was super tiny and half dead anyways. I had looked into natural remedies and there are some that use essential oils and also tying a piece of floss or thread around it tightly to cut off the blood flow and oxygen to it.
  • They can pop up ANYWHERE and it is common for pregnancy. I have a lovely one between my new and improved ta-tas... Doctor said he would take it off no problem but being in a place of moisture and chaffing he recommended against due to risk of infection. Another thread on OBM15 listed a natural remedy.

@adcoxmt hmmm! Interesting. I had no idea! I'll have to remember that.
I think this was pregnancy related (??) because it wasn't in the armpit shaving area but off to the side near the joint. Close enough to be rubbed from the swing of the arms.
Buuuut, I will be sure to wash off all deodorant prior to shaving from here on out. That was super annoying to have there and I'll do anything to keep them away!
  • Oregano oil will take them off but it dose burn really bad but it works u have to put it on the spot two times a day and put a band aid over it cuz if it touches another skin it will burn
