So much pain.. (Sciatica)

So I know that sciatica nerve pain is really common but I honestly haven't been in this much pain, ever.  (Not that I can remember at least)  I can't put any weight on my right leg, I can't roll over in bed because I can't support my lower body weight by turning my hips, I'm constantly almost falling and it's terrible.  Today I was sitting on the floor with my 2 year-old and couldn't get up to take her to the bathroom, so my husband had to physically lift me off the floor.  Not only did I bawl because of the pain, but it's embarrassing.  Is anyone else having these problems, this severe?

I haven't had anything that severe but I have had some pretty bad pain in my hips and lower back. I've had some luck by going to a chiropractor and massage therapist (make sure both are licensed or have training in prenatal.) Also if you think it's the baby pressing on something that is causing the pain, I recommend getting on all fours and rocking back and forth. It has helped me quite a bit, as has wearing a belly band.

I feel Ya! I have to hold onto furniture or someone when I walk because im afraid I'm going to fall. Rolling over in bed is painful just thinking about it. I want to see a chiropractor but don't know of any good ones here and don't want them to make it worse.

I have it a bit. Not that severe. I'd recommend going to the chiropractor. He will help take some of the pressure off of that pinched nerve.

Yep I have this. I just rest and try to keep my feet up when it acts up. It was bad today but I did too much walking today. Horrible pains!! Ugh I could barely get off the couch to go potty

I was beginning to get horrible sciatic nerve pain too about 2 months ago and when I went to see my doctor she referred me to a physical therapist and after 15 mins in their office I left and have never had that pain since and now I'm 35 weeks!!!!! I mentioned to my doc that I would just go to my chiropractor but she said that a physical therapist would be better and she was soooo right!!! Please go see a physical therapist I promise it'll help and they teach you moves and streches to do at home to help prevent the pain!

It's usually caused I guess by your hips or pelvis moving or rotating so the physical therapist does really light movements to get whatever's out of place back in and it's literally a miracle

Ouchie! :( Im so sorry you're in so much pain! Mine can get pretty uncomfortable (not nearly as intense as yours so I'm not sure this will help but....) I have a heat / ice pack that I use if it's really acting up, and that works wonders! It also helps when my husband massages the areas a bit. I kind of kneel in front of my yoga ball, and rest my arms and chest around it, and he rubs. It's nice cause the yoga ball helps the baby move forward a little bit to relieve some pressure, and then his rub is just glorious haha.

We could all use the TLC this late in the game! But maybe your sciatica could use a little extra umph!

I have been forced into using a walker. Yes, I feel like an 85 year old woman, BUT i haven't fallen since and can get around my house without relying on all my oddly placed furniture.  I have an appointment on Thursday with my midwife and will see what she suggests.  Hopefully, the pain will subside a little by then.  I'll keep you guys updated on my woes!  Also, thank you so much for all your advice.  July 2015 Moms seem to be a great bunch!

Thank you. I've been thinking it was sciatic pain that I was experiencing this last week, you confirmed it, was gonna ask doc about it tomorrow. I've been limping around all evening. It sucks.

It's embarrassing at work because people are constantly asking am I okay or am I having contractions .

Yes!!! I'm 34 weeks and it started around 32.5 weeks. I'm also a physical therapist...I highly recommend a women's health specialist for you!!! I have my first appointment with one on Thursday and cannot wait for the relief!!!! Best of luck, it really is no fun! I have the same problems with rolling in bed (popping in my pubic symphysis area), standing on my left leg to do any task - and the majority of our gait cycle is spent in single leg stance, so that is why walking is so ridiculously painful. I pray you find relief soon!! Seriously ask your doctor for a PT referral (but find a women's health specialist). Until then...try to keep your body as symmetrical as possible - for example no crossing your legs, don't be doing any lunges, sit on firmer surfaces that keep your back in line (recliners are terrible for your pelvic posturing and it tends to cause baby to relax into the not so ideal position for birth anyway on a side note), and when you roll in bed put a pillow between your knees. Hope those little tips help!

Yes I know how you feel.

I've been awake since 1130 last night because I couldn't get comfortable in bed. Had to be at work at 8. Guess I should just start getting used to no sleep now....

The pain has also been terrible for me. It almost feels like a piece of my tailbone "catches" on something. Ive had a problem with my toes going numb as well. =(

    Miserable

I completely agree! About 8 years ago I needed knee surgery, it was making my sciatica act up. I was in constant pain and it hurt to even sit. I told my PT about my pain and she knew exactly what to do. My PT had me lay on a firm surface with one knee bent, she held my bent leg with one arm, and with the other hand used her palm and messaged from knee to hip (use lotion and don't go from hip to knee). I have my husband do this when it starts bothering me. It was really painful at first, but you van feel the IT band lose up. Definitely go to a PT!
