my breastfed baby seems to be a bit colicky, not sure if it's time to call the doctor or not..
She is just over three weeks old and previously would be doing the cluster feed thing in the evening, settling around 11, waking at 240-330 and again around 6. Which I thought was pretty typical and actually quite good for a breastfed baby. For the most part she was easy to settle and we would lay her down in her bassinet. Occasionally she slept on my chest. As of lately she will not settle. At all. It seems that gas pains are what keeps her up. She will only sleep if I'm holding her on my chest so she's quite upright. Now it's during not the day as well. She spits up on occasion but it's minimal, but she does seem quite gassy and uncomfortable.
I'm kind of thinking she is swallowing a lot of air while nursing because my milk let down is wild there's so much of it. How do I know if it's this or a milk allergy?
Do you think the first step is cutting dairy out of my diet or should I see the doctor first as someone in a previous post mentioned baby Zantac? ( would also like to hear of experiences with this medication).
Her poop is yellow and normal but sometimes it seems like there isn't very much in her diaper.
Thoughts??
