so we went to go register at buy buy baby today and got overwhelmed by gliders!! I need opinions, we are looking into the upholstered gliders.

Is a reclining one really best?

If you got reclining did you also get an ottoman (my DH really wants gliding ottoman)

Should we pick a neutral color? Do people keep their gliders after babies?

We liked a soft yellow color but my DH is worried it may be too weird to move into other rooms later.

Thought? Opinions?

I'm getting a regular glider and ottoman. Not the upholstered kind just the rocker with a cushion. I'm gonna keep mine after baby cause by then we'll be out of the apt and in a house and I could use another chair in the living room. I'm going with a beige color but the good thing about the kind I'm getting is if you move it to another room and it doesn't match you can buy a different color cushion for it.

I had a glider with ottoman with my first two. Definitely get the ottoman, trust me. This one I've got a solid, antique wooden rocking chair. I miss my glider! 

I don't know about most people, but we kept the glider until we moved to a place we couldn't bring it. Soft yellow sounds nice, but neutral might be better if you do intend to keep it and move it around different rooms!

I have a regular glider with the ottoman. We received ours as a gift, so I didn't pick it out, but I do love it! Ours needs a little grease once in awhile so it doesn't make weird, creaky noises that wake up DD, but other than that I'd recommend it. We have the ottoman, too, and I'd say it's a must. There are days when I REALLY need to put my feet up (see: most of pregnancy), so being able to sit and read to DD before nap or bed time with my feet up is key!

Didn't have one with my first and no having one with this one. I'm good with going into our family room and lounging on our comfy recliner for feedings.

We got just the glider with DS. Wish we would've bought the ottoman too. Ours doesn't recline, no big deal there. We picked a color that matches our living room, so we plan to move there someday. We are going to put it in the new baby's room too.

Also, we got ours from babies r us. We love it now, but it was a huge hassle. Took MONTHS to come in (we picked a custom color) and when it was finally delivered, it was broken. So they had to order another one... Which again took months.

Found one I love on Wayfair, but it was cheapest at Walmart.  It's an upholstered glider, not reclining, and an ottoman.  The FREE shipping was so fast.  Received it 5 days after we ordered it, but the box was mangled when we received it.  Had to take it back.  Waiting for the replacement to come in.  Hope it's in better shape than the first.  Got one in a beige color.

I got one at buy buy baby a few weeks ago and LOVE it!!! Just as comfy as a recliner but feel the gliding motion will be better for a baby. I got a grey chenille like. We are team green but also would like to use if we have another baby since big purchase. Or even after in another room. Definitely get a hold of a $100 off $500 coupon and if you get a floor model like we did another $100 or so off. Orig $600 got for $400!! Pic below.

I plan on buying a Lay-Z-Boy, then I can watch tv on that sucker once the baby grows up.

I bought our glider and ottoman on Craigslist. We don't have an upholstered one, just a cushioned rocker. Honestly, I'll probably donate it to a thrift store when I'm done using it.

However, if I were in the market for new, I'd go with upholstered and in a neutral color you can use in another room later on.

Thanks everyone! We are buying at buy buy baby and I got a little overwhelmed! It sounds like the recliner isn't as necessary as I previously read.

Yes we were there for 3 hours registering and it was very overwhelming. That's why I was like let's take this grey floor model and go!

We just purchased ours at Buybuybaby but they had to order it. So it could take up to 10 weeks. Also, we were able to use a 20% off coupon so keep that in mind!!! BIG savings on a big ticket item!!

I am just really struggling with the cost of gliders. I want a comfy one that we could use somewhere else in the house. But they are just so expensive! Our parents are eager to buy something for the baby so they would probably help.... It is more the principle of it.
