Since dd was born we have been also fostering my now six year old niece. She is sharing a room with ds which is where he new baby will be when he is ready. My neice is going to probably be moving back in with her mom at the end of August. Until she leaves I won't be doing anything with the babies space. It is killing me since I was super into planning the other two nurseries and getting their rooms set up. But I know it is important for her to not feel pushed out so I am making myself be OK with it! I haven't even pulled the baby stuff out of the crawl space so I don't go crazy, but that definitely needs to happen soon!
We have a two bedroom townhouse apartment which is much bigger than our previous home. On the one hand it's so much more space but on the other it's still just 2 bedrooms.
Our newborn plan is to have the baby in a pack n play in the living room with one of us taking turns sleeping on the couch so the other can have uninterrupted rest in our bedroom (theoretically). Once baby isn't waking up a million times a night she can move into a pack n play in our room. Once she sleeps through the night or turns one year she'll go in a crib in the kids' room with DS and DD. The room is huge but I feel so guilty that three have to share. My goal is to be in a 3 bedroom home in 3 years.
Obviously not finished (or anywhere near it!) and don't worry, the pillows and stuffed animals aren't staying in the crib- just didn't want them on the non-vacuumed floor! The furniture is also not where it's going to end up being placed!
I am in the same boat as all those with limited nursery space. The crib is going to be in the same room as our office desk, piano, and three guitars. Not to mention the closet is used for storage because the hall closet is our only option for a pantry (and there are virtually no kitchen cabinets). We're lucky to have a two bedroom apartment, but as far as 'themes' and 'color schemes' go, we don't have any. I'm trying to do the best I can with half of the room, and it sucks not being able to decorate to my satisfaction, but I'm counting on the new baby not being able to remember her first room.
@jentatu this is what my husband wanted to do if we had a boy! He has so many nice (expensive) marvel print he wanted to hang!
My husband loves superhero stuff so when we found out we were having a boy we decided to do a superhero theme! He is like a little kid at Christmas when he shows our friends and family the nursery, it's cute!
No worries about a shared room! DS shared with our office stuff and many many school books for nearly 3 years. Now baby will share with some of my sewing stuff.
35 weeks and haven't even started rearranging our bedroom. We live in a 2 bedroom condo since we live in a stupid expensive COL area we don't plan to move to a larger place anytime soon. Our son is in the 2nd bedroom and eventually they will share a bedroom in a year or so. For now this baby will have her crib etc in our room. We finally got our TV mounted to the wall last week so we can change the dresser top into a changing station. My friend is still refinishing our crib and the art I ordered for above her crib hasn't arrived yet. But I have a mobile and a ton of swaddle blankets, diapers and clothes so there's that! Lol total opposite of my last pregnancy we had the whole nursery room completed by 30 weeks.
Made lots of progress this week! Still adding another layer of wall shelving for his books. I love all things Disney so I've purchased Mickey Mouse bookends and have Disney character stuffed animals to place on the shelves as well.
