Is my LO constipated?

My little guy is EBF and has not had a bm in a solid week. He doesn't seem bothered at all and his little tummy doesn't feel tight. He is still passing gas, so I'm not too worried just yet. I've tried eating apples, grapes, etc but nothing. Anyone have suggestions on getting his little poo shoot in working order?

Hi there, my LO is EBF also and we recently had similar symptoms except he seemed uncomfortable to me. So I called his pediatrician, who I think is fantastic btw, and he says that it's normal for some EBF babies to go over a week without pooping. His explanation was that your milk is finely tuned to your LOs needs and the baby's body uses it so efficiently that there is little waste. If he seems uncomfortable or you are worried call your doc! Otherwise, as long as you still have plenty of wet diapers, it seems you don't need to worry. My doc also said since LO is 5mo now I could give him a little prune juice in a bottle to get things moving if I felt he needed to. I didn't try it, he went on his own that day! Good luck!

Thank you! He finally did go on his own after 9 days and again has not gone since then so here I go again...he definitely has wet diapers! I've been the one downing the prune juice and all things hoping something goes into my milk.
