Boy name!

my DH is Mexican and is begging for the name Eliseo (pronounced Elli-say-oh) his Uncle that passed away about 10 years ago had this name and he has just always liked it. We live in San Antonio, Texas so Spanish names are very popular but I'm still a little hesitant. We want the middle name Anthony (my grandpa, dad and brother share this middle name) so the name would be Eliseo Anthony. Just want some honest opinions on the name as I like it but am not 100% sold yet...

Re: Boy name!

  • I like it. I wouldn't have known how to pronounce it, but once I read the pronunciation knew that I'd heard the name. It has a nice sound, and I wouldn't think it was too uncommon for an area with a strong Spanish culture.

  • I think it sounds fine. If you are worried about pronunciation could you do Anthony Eliseo?
  • I LOVE it!!!
  • I've never heard of it, but I like that it holds meaning for you and your husband.  The flow is a little interrupted between Eliseo and Anthony due to the double vowel, but that's not a huge deal, especially since both names are important for you.  I think that Eliseo Anthony would be a great name for your LO.

  • I like both names, especially since they both have family meaning to you and your husband. I prefer Anthony Eliseo.

  • I like it.

  • Eliseo could be fine but it does remind me of Delissio pizza a bit, but a lot of things remind me of pizza right now hahaha. Only other thing that crossed my mind is it may get confused with Elise.
  • Maybe Eli as a compromise? If the last name sounds Spanish I usually like trying to balance out with a more Anglo name. Just my opinion. My good friend married a Colombian and their son has a nice name that combines both heritages.
