Are any of you strict with your diets while TTC? I was very strict the first time and felt super guilty for sipping some wine during that time we conceived. Then throughout the pregnancy I ate all the super foods that are good for baby plus taking my prenatal vitamins and substituting water and hot chocolate for my daily caffeine. We had a beautiful & healthy baby boy.
This time around, I feel more casual about it and think hey, why say goodbye to wine and moldy cheese when I might not be pregnant?? and I still have 8.5 months of quitting all the things I love for another God willing- healthy baby. I'm still being strict and not drinking any alchohol or even coffee right now!! I do drink some decaf every other day but only a few sips ( I feel guilty about that too

). I'm either way too strict for you or too risky. Any thoughts?

Maybe I'll feel different once I'm actually pregnant, and I think everyone should do what makes them comfortable, but it seems like a lot of the "food rules" are based in fear and paranoia on doctors' parts instead of logic or research. For example, I don't personally eat deli meat anyway, but if the logic is avoiding listeria shouldn't we also be avoiding milk? I saw lurking that some women are still doing sushi (non-Mercury laden fish species, reputable restaurants) and part of me hopes my future doc or midwife will be on board with that when the time comes!
Looking back I see how it came it across and I apologize that my comment wasn't written clearly. That's my fault. And, I can see how you thought of it as controlling: I mentioned it because you're more likely to get responses from people in the same boat as you on the other board.
p.s. The Trying to Control board is surprisingly too lax for me.
p.p.s Hahah, sorry, couldn't resist poking fun at that. That was immature, sorry!
