So on the ninth I went to my anatomy appointment. I found out that I am having a daughter!! I couldn't be more excited. Although I am a little worried. This is my first pregnancy and the doctor said the baby weighs 14 oz. This app says the baby should be around 10.2 oz. To me that is a BIG difference and worries me the baby will be a nine pounder.

Estimates of fetal weight based on ultrasound are at best an educated guess. You can't measure the mass of something from a 2-dimensional image.

With my second that thought she would be over 8 pounds and she was 6.3. It is hard to determine weight of the baby based off of ultrasound measurements.

I wouldn't pay to much attention to the ultrasound estimates. My son was predicted to my over 9lbs, he was born at 7lbs 13oz. They were almost 2lbs off.

With my DS, they thought he'd be over 10 lbs... and he was 8.5lbs. Ultrasounds are estimates, and (esp as you get further along) not terribly accurate.

they kept telling us our son was going to be sooo large, at least over 9lbs.

With all of my u/s DS and DD measured on the higher end. DS was born 7.5 at 39 weeks and DD was born 8 at 40 weeks. Estimates can be off by quite a but and 9 lbs isn't even big. I know a very petite woman (5 ft size 0 pre-pregnancy) who went on to vaginally deliver 10, 11 lb babies with almost no tearing.

They told me mine was small at 11oz at 20+4 weeks so either the app is wrong or they are. Logic says there's prob no hard fast when still so small right now and a ways to go. Trying not to worry but have to go back in 4 weeks just to check in on growth.

They told me my son would probably be a little guy around 6 pounds. (Even though I'm petite and gained 70 pounds lol) he ended up being 7.15 but he was 22in so I thought maybe they didn't account for length? But then again I'm not sure how theycome up with the weight estimates to begin with.
