2nd Trimester

Looking for hope--did anyone have their nausea end at 20 weeks or later?

Hi everyone,
I'm 20 weeks today and still have nausea. I keep thinking that it's ending--it will seem to be getting milder, and then will be back full force. I've never vomited very often; I've had more nausea than actual vomiting. But I did throw up today for the first time in two weeks and am beginning to lose hope that I will ever get past the nausea--until delivery, that is! Has anyone else experienced nausea this long, but ultimately moved past it? With all my food aversion, too, it's really hard to eat healthy. I try, but I still hate vegetables and meat. I take Unisom and B6 at night still. This is my first pregnancy.

Thanks!

  • I'm sorry you're going through this, but nobody else's experience will have any bearing on yours. Every woman and every pregnancy is different. I think you should speak with your doctor if the Unisom and B6 is not helping.

With my 1st pregnancy I was sick the ENTIRE pregnancy and there were literally 3 things I could eat :( I feel your pain. Talk to your doctor tell them you are miserable. Hang in there I am pregnant with my 3rd and sick as ever...just keep telling yourself this is temporary and you will have a sweet baby when it's over! Thinking of you!
  • Thanks! Just wish I could get a few weeks where I feel halfway decent during this nine month period...But hopefully she'll be healthy and it will all be worth it!
  • I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and it's still going strong.
  • Uggh, @nursekatie47. Sorry to hear that. Hope we both get a few non-nauseous weeks before delivery...
  • I was sick my entire pregnancy. I felt so much better after my son was born. I was hoping it would go, even for a few days. It never did. It sucks, but when you hold your baby. It will be all worth it.

I thought mine would never end. Like you it was more nausea than actual vomiting. It finally started letting up within the past three weeks or so (I'm 21w now) but if I miss a dose of Diclegis I still feel pretty bad. Unfortunately some women are sick the entire time :( Talk to your doctor and see if there's something else s/he can suggest. Diclegis has been a lifesaver for me. It didn't get rid of all of the nausea but it certainly took the edge off enough that I could stay at work all day and not just crawl into bed as soon as I got home.
